Teddy didn't get the memo

And I’ll eat crow when he’s performing at a HOF level.

Unfortunately, this is the only way folks will (reluctantly) give Teddy any credit.

Folks can want to draft a young QB and not try to poo on Teddy at every opportunity just because he isn't Cam.

I have no idea if Teddy is a long term player. I like him, I hope that he is. I think he is trending in the right direction.

This.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised all around. Coaching staff has been better quicker than I would have thought.

ETA: Kind of like Burrow’s video game stats, you do wonder what a high ceiling prospect could do. Alex Smith had his moments and they made the playoffs almost every year at 10-6/11-5, but Mahomes is just on another level. Teddy’s been solid but he’s not on that other level and that other level cam win SBs. Beating the Chargers and Cardinals is how you compete for the playoffs (Smith), not next level.

There’s a difference between pooing on Teddy and being critical of Teddy. And I’ve only made references to Cam when others quote me and add Cam in. I have no reason to defend Cam here. I point out Cam was also a bad passer and struggled punching the ball in the end zone through the air. Teddy is also struggling with that. They are both in the bottom third of the NFL.

I'll back you up on this. @Icege Varking is better than a lot of folks on here at being critical without being needlessly pejorative. He refrains from hyperbole and mudslinging and sticks to assessing play as he sees it. I am pretty enthusiastic about what I have seen out of Bridgewater so far, but that doesn't mean there is no room for doubt or criticism of his play.

Apparently TB didn't get the memo that he was suppose to be a "bridge QB".

We might end up losing the next 12 games and get the no1 pick (I doubt it) and at that point Teddy will become a "bridge" QB, but can people now admit that the front office didn't view Teddy as a purely "bridge QB?

His contract alone should have told people that, but either they couldn't understand that or they were just unwilling to accept it.  This coaching staff/front office believes they can win with Teddy and that is why they paid as much as they did.  They might turn out to be wrong but that is an entirely different discussion.

Sure but we could also say they were stupid for signing him at all

Should have gone with Will Grier this year.

Jake replaced Peete game week one 2003 he came in at half-time and Chucked 3tds and two Ints.

And made plays with his arm when we had to have them.

When everything was going wrong Jake would always find a way at the end.

Plus Jake had a cannon and a long ball.

My bust, I was speaking in general rather than responding specifically to @Varking. Apologies if that wasn't clear.

I also stand by my original comment. Folks forget that evaluations are not limited to what a player doesn't do well but what they also do well. Teddy throws two TDs and they're disregarded because the receiver was open. His completion rating is one of the best that the franchise has seem but folks want to say he can't protect the ball because of the TB game.

Do we want to criticize his floaty screen passes that are begging to get snatched up and taken back? Cool. Criticize trying to force a throw into 3 defenders? Not an issue. Criticizing him for not throwing deep when nobody was open and the play was designed for somebody underneath? Now we are jogging into bad faith arguments in an attempt to uphold false narratives. Is his deep ball the best? Fuuuuck no. Can he throw it deep more than well enough to start in the NFL? Fuuuuuck yes.

I agree one game behind a shaky offensive line does not a qb bad at protecting the ball make.  So far that game looks like the aberration it likely was, not that facts would ever stop the knee jerk crowd.

This is what I mean by you mystery box mother fugers.

We don't need to take a QB in the first. If the coaching staff likes Teddy, why not build a team (something that is more flexible for long term success) instead of rolling the dice on a first round QB? We don't have to upgrade Teddy this year. We can build up our team first and draft while keeping Teddy, who we can win with.

If Teddy remains consistent there's no reason to say QB is the biggest hole because oh look the new shiny toy this will be the elite

Andy Reid didn't draft Mahomes until 2017. We don't have to replace Teddy now.

Andy tried and thought he could win the whole thing with Alex.

Secondly if the Panthers take Mahomes then Andy never gets his ring.

But we thought we were good with Cam and took CMC

As much as I love CMC I wish we took Mahomes.

You guys keep forgetting that in order for us to get a superstar QB later in the draft that all the other teams have to pass on him.

Your odds of finding the right guy quickly go down with every pick.

Losing this year was our chance to find a guy NOW!!!! NOT 15 YEARS FROM NOW DUMMIES!!!!!

We've had two great QBs since 1995.

They don't grow on phucking trees!!!!!!!

I don't have 30 years to wait for a Superbowl.

Would you guys have been happy being the Alex Smith Chiefs for all those years?

That's your goal? Being pretty good?

Varking is A people hater. Cant fix that my friend.

I’ve been very complimentary to many people on the Panthers. And I’ve been especially complimentary of the coaching. Nobody could have seen this type of turn around from the defense this soon. Davis has been good. DJ and Robbie have been good. Burns has been good. DJack has been better than normal. 21 has stood out almost every game. Shaq is earning his money. Big Brown has gotten better every week. I even said Teddy was starting to win me over but I still need to see it longer. But hey... whatever fits your agenda.

I am not sure you really understand his contract.

I do.

It’s not a contract you give a QB to be JUST a bridge QBS.  You can get that a lot cheaper.

I do agree that it is small enough that if he doesn’t play well you can turn him into a “bridge QBs” so to speak.

There were a lot of people around here that were convinced that teddy was brought in just to tutor the next QB,  I believe this staff truly believes they can win with Teddy.

You don’t pay a guy that much just to be a tutor, not sure why that is so hard for people to understand, you at least believe he has a chance to be the guy.

Do you remember Rodney Peete? How about Steve Beuerlein?

Honestly before my time as a football fan. I came on board during Jake. Lived through Moore and Clausen before Cam made things exciting again.

I actually went to a Vinny Testaverde game, although i keep trying to block that memory.
