I disagree, but that's just me.

I think that Teddy has the arm to make the throws needed, he just doesn't have the "gunslinger" in him that would make him make those throws.  He ALWAYS prefers the safest route, that's what holds him back so much.

When he does try, he throws bad picks. He just doesn't have "it" in him. I honestly don't see much physical talent difference between him and Cousins but Cousins has the first to take some chances and the moxie to pull some off. Teddy doesn't and that's pretty much the difference between the two. If we had Cousins we'd probably have another 2-3 wins. We should be aiming higher than Cousins I'm just saying that yes an example of a mediocre talent optimizing his physical talent.

You seriously think having McCaffrey wouldn't have made a difference in those games?

Sure he would help, I don't think our record would be that much different though. I just think it would be easier to find a better qb then to find pro bowlers at every position around Teddy.

Agree 110%. To be clear for anyone who will argue this does not mean that you don't try to get Pro Bowlers at every position because of course that's ideal, it just means that it's better to not have to do so as the only possible way to win.

He  plays safe because he knows his limitations. Its not a mental thing.

I think Kirk is better than Teddy, but that's just me.  Both are in the you "can" win with them, but you better have a great team tier.

I would love a great QB on this team, but I would love a plan more.  I wasn't on board with the Teddy nor the Anderson BS, but here we are...doing what the Panthers do best.

No, you really can't because the best defenses will just sit down as we've seen already this year. The guys that continually get brought up have both the physical ability and mental acuity to take true deep shots downfield and keep things honest even if it's not a big part of the offense. Defenses do not fear Teddy at all and as such there are no dynamics in Carolina's passing game. The result is what we're already seeing happen.

With respect to Brees I'd even argue that he has lacked true dynamics for several years and the Saints have been perennial also-rans for the better part of a decade. Lots of regular-season wins but dating back to 2013 that stellar offense has scored, in thier last playoff games,  20 or fewer in 3 of their last 7, 24 or fewer in 5 of their last 7, and 26 or fewer in 6 of their last 7 (scored 31 in the 7th). A stronger defense would help there as well but again, you have to be able to beat the best and the best are often strong in both phases.

Brady and Montana both won multiple Super Bowls with what most would consider lesser arm strength. Heck, even Brad Johnson got a ring.

A West Coast system just doesn't need it. Sure, it's still better to have it but if you build the right team, it's not absolutely essential.

being a risk adverse QB is a mental thing.  Plenty of QBs without rocket arms are willing to push the ball downfield.   You don't need a rocket arm to push the ball downfield.  You need a rocket arm to throw into tiny windows or throw an out route to the far side of the field.

NCAA or Tiger fans, was Joe Burrow a check down master, or did he push it down field?

Using the 20 air yard metric for 'deep' passing, according to the link below:

For LSU last season, Burrow completed 44 of 78 deep passes (20 or more air yards) for 1,689 yards, 1,276 air yards, 22 touchdowns, and two interceptions.

https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2020/09/18/joe-burrow-and-the-deep-ball/

An average of 29 air yards per deep completion and 5 or so deep shots a game (not sure how many games that includes).

I absolutely think Cousins is better than Teddy, I'm just saying I think the majority of that difference is in mentality not physical ability.
