"Teddy will never be good enough" crowd

This 1000. He's taking according to a lot of you the worst roster in football before the start of the season on a 2 game winning streak without our best offensive weapon.

I'm curious to know what the definition of "putting the team on his back" means that yall keep referencing.

To use a very familiar reference, Cam (literally in some cases) dragging the Carolina offense to relative success year after year in that below-average and inflexible scheme is a perfect example example. The current tape on Teddy does not show him having the ability to be that type of player.

However, this staff already looks to be much more able to strategically scheme to player strengths and opponent weaknesses. As such it shouldn't generally be necessary to have a guy like that to achieve offensive success. We're seeing it already, this week being a perfect example.

But teams lacking a QB with game-breaking ability and having anything less top-flight defense can't consistently get it done against top-tier competition even with the coaching (e.g. Alex Smith in KC). It then takes a better QB to put the team on his back and level up (e.g.Mahomes).

the metric for a franchise QB is the ability to put the team on his back, make everyone better, and carry them to a win.

the jury is out on teddy but we haven't seen that yet. we have seen likable, efficient, chippy chad pennington.

i hope his deep ball develops with the offensive gel and makes me eat my doubts.

You had to get 1 poop for that. Teddy played great!

The goal should be to compete for Super Bowls. Teddy won't ever be good enough for that. Sorry man.

This has been my argument the whole time. He’s an average quarterback, back end starter.  But if you want to win big, you need above average at the most important position

Relative to what a lesser quarterback would/could have produced in that system, which we saw plenty of in 2018 and 2019.

Got it.

Your metrics make Teddy's production so far even more impressive.

He's led a team expected to go 0-16 to a 2-2 record and in reality the first 2 games should probably be excluded.  Coming into this year the Panthers were the impersonation of an expansion franchise with literally nobody ever having previously worked together so it's fair to give them a 2-game grace period to get things sorted.

The balance of the season should be very exciting for Panthers fans and players alike!  Don't you know McCaffery is chomping at the bit to get back on the field with these ballers...

None of that matters. He doesn't have the arm talent period.

He doesn't have Cam's, Stafford's, Allen's, Rodgers' arm talent.  That is for sure.

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady never did either.
