He has also had the best coach in NFL history his entire career, Brady is good but he wouldn't be a 6 time SB winner if he wasn't the product of a system.... Well rounded teams tend to win SBs.

I'm not saying all one needs is a QB. I'm saying that a true franchise QB makes it much easier to get to the Super Bowl with less-rounded teams and overcome the other elite teams. I hope no one would wrgue you could drop Mahomes on the Jets and have them suddenly contending. Mahomes and Reid with that offense, however, damn near made the SB with Bob Sutton and that weak defense.

I agree with you entirety there but when without or in doubt build on what you can, I don't know about contending because they are really azz but he would take them from 0-16 to 8-8... Let's not act like he isn't surrounded by weapons and great offensive coaching (look at how Josh Allen looks this year with weapons).

Sheesh, give the man the cheers, he deserves them.

He hasn't done anything but come here, put on our uniform and give it his all. And now he's winning.

Cheer for the guy or you're just being a jerk. No one is saying he's the next Brady, Brees or even Newton, he's just Teddy Bridgewater and that's a pretty good thing to have apparently.

Sh!t he even has the line playing good for him. That's got to mean something! (Like he can effectively call protection.)

Still, outside of Mahomes last year, the Super Bowl has been filled recently with QBs that haven't exactly lit the world on fire. Brady in his 40s, Jared Goff, Nick Foles, and Jimmy Garoppolo. I mean Garoppolo's 49ers dominated the Packers and their "franchise qb" in the NFC championship game. Do our chances of winning a super bowl go up by having a Mahomes level QB? Obviously. Are we doomed if we don't and/or do we need to pull all the stops to get a better qb even at the detriment of other positions on our team? I don't think so.

That's why we wanted to lose this year.

To get a superstar QB on a rookie deal so we didn't have to sacrifice other positions.

Now we're screwed.

Meh.   Outside of QBs on rookie deals, Teddy is one of, if not the, lowest paid starting QB.  He isn't holding our roster back.

This conversation isn't crapping on Teddy. It's in response to the nonsensical OP seemingly gloating about 1 game as if it proves something. Making declarations that deviate widely, in either the good or bad direction, from what Teddy has put on tape is not logical at this point and what he's put in tape falls squarely in 'game manager' territory.

He isn't what he once was but he hasn't passed for less than 3900 yards since 2010 (when he passed for 3900) and has been at 24 TDs or more every year during that time, with half of those years at 30 or more.

Now, IMO it's very fair to say that NE has feasted on that weak AFC East for a long time but Brady has gotten it done in the playoffs nearly every year and just today I saw him pitching balls with 45 air yards or more. What he lacks in physical skills he more than made up for with intangibles and IMO that keeps him in franchise QB territory. Game managers don't come back from being down 28-3.

The 28-3 was the failclowns they make a living of allowing massive comebacks I also wasn't implying TB was a game manager but he is a system QB who enjoyed the best coach in the NFl.

I'm not talking about Teddy.

Obviously Teddy isn't a franchise QB.

I'm talking about winning and building a team. Then figuring out we wasted time with Teddy and being forced to sign a FA.

It's that FAs contract that will come at the detriment of other positions.

If you aren't rooting for TB and the team, it's due to one of these three reasons and these three reasons only:

1. You're still butthurt about what happened to Cam.

2. You aren't a Panthers fan, never were. You were a Cam Fan.

3. You think we have a shot at Lawrence or Fields.

That's it. There is no other reason not to applaud OUR quarterback.

In theory that sounds reasonable. But A) There is no rookie guaranteed to be successful, no matter how much hype they come in with. Top 3 picks bust all the time, particularly qbs. Maybe Lawrence seems the most bust-resistant (but not 100%) but I don't think anyone else is that surefire to be successful. Say we go 2-14 and pick 2nd and take Fields and he ends up being on the level of Blake Bortles or Sam Darnold. Was it worth it?

B) It is hard to get the stink of losing off. Cleveland has been trying to do it for years without success. Maybe it'll be better this year for them but despite years of "amazing offseasons" they've been mired in mediocrity. Rhule coming in and setting a winning mindset and getting the players to buy in and trust him has to count for something. Establishing a losing mentality and expecting a rookie qb to walk in and galvanize a team full of veterans is a risky proposition.

Look it could have worked your way possibly. But we could also set the stage with a scrappy competitive team this year and in the offseason cut some deadweight, draft another pool of talented rookies in 2021 and hope for more growth from our young players and make a leap similar to the 2019 49ers. And even if we're not 100% sold on Teddy, we can still target a less heralded rookie that needs a year or two to be groomed, similar to Mahomes in KC or Love this year in Green Bay without mortgaging a bunch of picks. I for one am really enjoying this Panthers team and am not at all upset at us winning

You understand that rooting for us to lose in order to win long term by drafting a stud Quarterback is the ultimate display of love.

Same as a parent who spanks their child in order to help them grow up to be a great adult.

Sometimes you have to do things you don't like in order to hit the ultimate goal.
