You're right neither Mike Glennon not Matt Flynn were past their prime. Neither were ant good (except Matt Flynn vs the Lions goat QB there.)

And you can't just say IT DOESNT WORK LIKE THAT because...things aren't hard coded to work one way or the other? It is entirely possible to be a competent starter that can lead your team to the playoffs and not become a "franchise QB" via free agency or a trade.

Franchise QB does not always equal elite play.

Joe Flacco? Franchjse QB. Mediocre as fug in the off season but goddamn Postseason Joe was next level.

.Andy Dalton? Franchise QB. Played in Cin just as long as Cam played here.

Alex Smith?  Was the franchise in KC for a bit.b

Derek Carr? He's their franchise right now.

The moment the franchise's future is entrusted to that QB they are that Franchise's QB. It doesn't mean some sensaltionzed 15 YEAR 15X ALL PRO 15X PRO BOWLER type QB because those are fugin rare. It also doesn't mean you can't be upgraded.

But it is also entirely possible that Teddy plays in such a way he doesn't need to be immediately upgraded. He's shown a lot of good the past few weeks. Excellent accuracy and control of the offense. More good than bad and one can hope he improves. It is possible he improves.

We won't be the first team to pass on QBs if that happens and we won't be the last. I've said this before: the franchise doesn't hinge on the QBs of this draft.

They don't hinge, but usually it helps to have one going forward. A Franchise QB like Rodgers, Mahomes, Brees in his prime, Brady in his prime, and to some extent even Eli Manning in his prime are able to mask any deficiencies you have on your team. Even Cam did so in 2015. However, I don't believe Teddy BridgetothenextQB can do that. Neither can the guys you posted. I believe their franchise QB's in theory, but some of the guys that are available in the Draft, I personally believe will be better than that. Those guys you listed, in theory are "franchise QBs" but if something better comes along (Burrow, Mahomes). They're gone immediately. The same fate will happen to BridgetothenextQB, more than likely.

That’s JT O’Sullivan, I’ve watched a fair bit of his videos. They’re a decent watch for sure.

Completely agree with you on Mond and Newman. Not a fan of many of the QB’s this draft outside of Lawrence and Lance tbh.

My gut tells me Trey Lance is our next QB and would take no issue.  He better declare.  I'm however definitely interested to see how Trask and a few others shake out as the season progresses.

Lawrence has had a superb start to the season and too good to be anything but #1.  I see Lance fitting the Burrow mold very well here for Brady.

Yeah I get that and I am not going to go to the "is teddy good" argument.  Its too early in the morning but heres the thing.  The model now to win in the nfl is to do it with a qb on a rookie deal and using the rest of the salary cap to fill out with players that contribute up and down the roster.  We dont have that now.  We will not be able to do it on his current salary or the new one he is going to have to get if we decide he is the long term answer.  Thats a big factor for me in wanting to draft a rookie qb.  That and letting brady work with him.

I agree to an extent. I don’t think it has to be a QB but you need legit talent at one or two key positions on rookie contracts.

The Saints looked like they were done and then they had that great draft with Lattimore, Ramcyzk and Kamara. All 3 guys have been able to step in day 1 and are above average starters.

I also think it’s important a team recognizes when they have that talent and goes for it. Once you have to start paying guys it becomes incredibly hard. The Rams for example have made their bed with Goff, Donald, Jalen, Kupp and Woods. They can’t afford to miss when drafting the next couple of seasons. Once the Ravens pay Lamar and Stanley with Humphrey now locked up they’ll be in a similar situation. The Texans seem to already be in that situation with Tunsil and Watson.

Essentially you have to draft well in order to win in this league. Pay guys at key positions when you have them but somewhere on the field you’re going to need legit starters on rookie deals.

Lance is not the slam dunk folks think. I predict much like Burrows was an unknown last year and Tua  was supposedly the main guy that Lance will not be third qb picked or who we would go with if available. Other guys will outshine him.

Then again Parsons just opted out from playing this season so his stock may go down somewhat as well. So truth is that neither of them may be our pick

Wrong. If anything Lance will challenge Lawerence for #1 overall. Dude is a monster. Read up on what Matt Miller and Daniel Jeremiah have said about him recently.

Better chance Lance goes 2nd than 4th

Told you about Ehlinger man. Throwing at a stellar 31% clip right now.

Trask looks like he’s pulling a Burrow. Kids ballin.

I’m still going to remain skeptical for now just because he’s my QB and I’m not used to having competent play at the position recently. Pitts is still playing out of his mind.

I'm also game to trade for Nick Mullens :) (I know we have Teddy and totally support the guy while he's here, but he's not a long term answer)

He's been enlightening every time he's needed to play in front of Jimmy G and Beathard.

Would love Mullens but highly doubt they let him go

FA after this year so could get interesting

And to state the obvious John Lynch has been masterful finding talent
