Thanks for acknowledging it

So you don't think its more likely that they didn't just let Teddy walk and use that Cap Space for things like a cheaper backup and players like Jenkins and Sanders.

But instead thought Nah Teddy is trash.

That's your argument here. That's what you really think.

How about Brett Farve or Kurt Warner. Or Jimmy G. Or Carson Palmer. Or Alex Smith. Or Peyton Manning. Or even fugin Jake Delhomme.

Quarterback is the most important position in the NFL. If you have an elite one, or hell even a good one you hang onto it. That's why you see drafted QBs stay on one team. Situations happen sometimes where talent gets out on the market every now and then. And its worth the risk of trying them out based on potential. Sometimes they work out. Sometimes they don't.

Just like drafted QBs wow.

No one's saying Teddy's proven anything yet but to act like its set in stone three weeks into the season that he can't prove these things is foolish.

Jimmy G was traded, Alex Smith was traded, if you're talking KC he was Drafted over to the point they traded a first rounder for Mahomes. Peyton Manning was let go because the Colts were going to Draft Andrew Luck. There's always reasons behind franchises letting their older/former great QB's go.

Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers. Kurt Warner-Eli Manning. Jimmy G was traded. LOL. Wasn't Carson Palmer Andy Dalton? Delhomme is your only one that became something out of nothing.

I can keep going with FA QB's. Dante Culpepper in Miami. Jeff Garcia in Cleveland, Delhomme in Cleveland, Carson Palmer on the Raiders. Brett Favre on the Jets, Elvis Grbac Ravens, Kerry Collins Raiders, Donovan McNabb Redskins, Mike Glennon-Bears, Neil O'Donnel Jets, Brad Johnson-Washington.

If you dont think the Saints could have given him a contract with the exact same amount of guaranteed money then I am sorry you just dont understand how nfl contracts work.  It would be structured different but it would work.

Please, explain then.

Explain how Teddy could've gotten the contract he wanted AND the chance to start this year (something that Teddy has openly stated he wanted.)

And signed Jenkins and Sanders and any other player the signed this off season.

And extend Kamara.

Since I don't understand NFL contracts. And you clearly do.

::Sigh::   You just dont get it.  The saints wouldnt have to front load the contract if they wanted him long term.  They didnt.  Please link where he openly stated he wanted to be a starter.

Plus Glazer reported that the Saints were going with Hill over teddy.  Thats another tell tale sign.

Literally every quarterback you mentioned in that last point was past their prime bro. Teddy is 27.

My point is QBs move and succeed. There's literally no evidence so far that Teddy can't be an outlier. Literally zero. He got a bad break in Minnesota (literally) and has shown growth and capability here. We have zero idea if Sunday was the best we've seen of Teddy or not and all I've heard as a counter argument is hurrr arm strength when QBs like Eli and Matt Ryan get by with similar arm strength.

Is it possible he's just a stop gap? Absolutely. Is it also possible that he could be a starter for us? Also possible.

Why do you keep acting like the possiblity doesn't exist based on past examples.

You take the 3rd best QB in Lance and get a Jabril Cox, Chazz Surrattt who can rush the passer or Nick Bolton in the 2nd

Lance is not the slam dunk folks think. I predict much like Burrows was an unknown last year and Tua  was supposedly the main guy that Lance will not be third qb picked or who we would go with if available. Other guys will outshine him.

Then again Parsons just opted out from playing this season so his stock may go down somewhat as well. So truth is that neither of them may be our pick

Because it's proven that it doesn't work like that. If you're good enough, that team will keep you regardless, unless there is a better option coming to you, or behind you on the bench. I believe Teddy is here next year anyway, man. Because if we Draft a QB high enough, Teddy will start over him, and help him learn the ropes the first year. Mike Glennon wasn't past his prime by the way, he just sucked. Same with Matt Flynn. LOL. Teddy would have to be one hell of an outlier if he became a franchise QB. I just don't see it. He's here for the next two years anyway, we'll get plenty of time to see if you're right on this one. I hope for your sake, and for these other guys that want to win now :eyeroll:, that you're right as well. Because if not, the winning now crowd is going to look pretty damn stupid if we don't get a QB and all three become studs.

If you pick Lance or Fields, you're sitting them anyway. Both are raw. Good but very raw.

If anyone actually believes Taysum Hill is going to be a starter is silly. Dude is already 30 and has shown no progress as passer and it's just Peyton buttering him up to keep him around for dumb gimmick plays. If Hill was gonna be the starter: why didn't he start last year? Why sign Winston?

And no, I don't get it. That's why I'm asking you to explain it to me. But you act like backloaded contracts are something players are eager to rush and sign.  Esp ones like Teddy who want to start (it was some remote interview I think around draft time he stated this. He said he wanted to prove he is a starter in the NFL.) Backloaded contracts are usually for players who are already established in a system. What makes you think Teddy would openly take one?

So please, work your GM magic.

You're right neither Mike Glennon not Matt Flynn were past their prime. Neither were ant good (except Matt Flynn vs the Lions goat QB there.)

And you can't just say IT DOESNT WORK LIKE THAT because...things aren't hard coded to work one way or the other? It is entirely possible to be a competent starter that can lead your team to the playoffs and not become a "franchise QB" via free agency or a trade.

Franchise QB does not always equal elite play.

Joe Flacco? Franchjse QB. Mediocre as fug in the off season but goddamn Postseason Joe was next level.

.Andy Dalton? Franchise QB. Played in Cin just as long as Cam played here.

Alex Smith?  Was the franchise in KC for a bit.b

Derek Carr? He's their franchise right now.

The moment the franchise's future is entrusted to that QB they are that Franchise's QB. It doesn't mean some sensaltionzed 15 YEAR 15X ALL PRO 15X PRO BOWLER type QB because those are fugin rare. It also doesn't mean you can't be upgraded.

But it is also entirely possible that Teddy plays in such a way he doesn't need to be immediately upgraded. He's shown a lot of good the past few weeks. Excellent accuracy and control of the offense. More good than bad and one can hope he improves. It is possible he improves.

We won't be the first team to pass on QBs if that happens and we won't be the last. I've said this before: the franchise doesn't hinge on the QBs of this draft.
