True.

But not badly enough to spend a first rounder on one when this team has needs at positions which have a much bigger impact.

If Parsons is the BPA, then that's it. Other than Sewell or possibly one of the top QBs, I can't think of a pick that would have more impact. And that impact would be felt for years to come!

With us probably not making the Top 5, I'm starting to buy into and think we will go BPA around pick 6-10 or wherever we end up.

Then, trade back into the 1st and grab our QB to groom for a year behind Teddy.  Whoever we end up with at QB, please sweet baby Jesus let him be good.

Parsons is absolutely worth a top five pick

debatable.

My position is that no linebacker is worth a top 5 pick because they just don't have the ability to impact the game from that position the way they once did. Seriously, Kuechley was the very best linebacker of his generation and it absolutely did not stop us from having mostly midling records his entire career. Think about that.

Disagree. If you can find a linebacker that can play all 3 downs and do that extremely well then they're worth it. Same for safties.

Seriously having command over the middle of the field is important.

It's not a coincidence that our seasons with good outside support (13, 15) were our best defenses. It's also why corners are also a centerpiece of a defense too.

Too bad neither Ron or Gettleman valued corner highly because THE PASS RUSH LOL

Jones looks like a deer in the headlight and holds the ball way too long because his receivers are from the practice squad

Why get wide receivers when you can get hog mollies from arkansas state university.

Middling record? Please stop the over exaggeration. During the 8 seasons Luke was with us, we had double digits win 3 times, made the playoffs 4 times and had 1 Super Bowl appearance. Luke alone made our defense one of the best for years. There is a reason why guys like Devin Bush, Devin White, Tremaine Edmunds, Roquan Smith, Patrick Queen and Kenneth Murray are still drafted in the 1st round the past 3 drafts.

We also had more losing seasons (5) during his career than winning seasons and our overall record during the career of the very best MLB of his generation was 70-59. That’s a few more wins than losses but nothing spectacular.  The word for that is...middling.

Yes our defense was typically solid during his career, it did not translate into a noteworthy win percentage over his career because the offense only ranked top 10 once, guess which year? The year our qb had an MVP season.

The qb is by a wide margin the most important player on the field. They are worthy of top 5 pics. The tackles that protect  them from an opponents best pass rushers and are in short supply are also at a premium and worthy of top 5 picks. The edge rushers who have the greatest impact on slowing the quarterback down, the elite receivers who leverage a qb’s abilities the most and the elite corners that stop them are also worthy of consideration.

extremely talented players who play other positions may indeed be perennial all pros and are worthy of first round consideration but I would not want my team to use a top 5 pick on anything not mentioned above unless there were no exceptional prospects at those positions and I don’t recall a draft where that was the case.

We also had the best QB we have ever had during the same time period.  So you shouldn't take a QB top 10?
