Does Bonnafon need more snaps?

He looked more explosive than Davis. He’s not a vet like Davis. But I think he would have turned in a better yardage total had he had all the carries. As you posted before there were plays where you could see where CMC would have extended a run that Davis couldn’t finish. I don’t think Reggie is on CMC’s level but I think the same would be said about him hitting holes quicker and doing more. Maybe Reggie doesn’t have the hands, not sure.

Reggie was recruited to play Qb at Louisville then was moved to wide receiver so he's a great receiver out of the backfield.

I know everyone is drinking the Mike Davis Kool-Aid, but I thought Bonnafon earned the backup job last season.

Samuel has lost a lot of favor, which is not a surprise being how awkward a fit he seems to be in this offense, so if Bonnafon gets his snaps, what can I say?

Bonnafon was one of the big reasons why we won the Jacksonville game last year. CMC had a hellava game but got hurt late when the contest was still in doubt. Allen hadnt done anything passing wise all game, and then Bonnafon comes in and seals the deal with like a 59 yard touchdown on his first carry of the season. And then of course after that game he was never heard from again by our then great coaching staff.

One of Ron Rivera's biggest weaknesses was knowing who to put on the field. His depth chart choices were frequently head scratchers. Is Matt Rhule better? I haven't seen enough to know yet.

Reggie Bonaffon is kind of an enigma. You look at the plays he makes and wonder why he isn't getting more playing time. I've heard it speculated that he doesn't do the other runningback things well (like blocking) but I won't claim to have seen him block enough to comment on that.

It could be that he's one of those guys who can look really good in small samples but starts to fade when he plays longer.

20 rec, 278 yds = awesome. true No. 1

14 rec, 239 yds (6 less catches, only 39 less yards = unimpressive, trade him

I'm sorry you have so many idiots on here, @Jeremy Igo. I really am. I've muted hundreds of them and yet more appear every week.

While I agree that Moore has done an OK job this far, expectations do matter. Catches matter also, because they usually translate to moving the chains.

Yeah, I’ve got no real reason why Davis is in instead of Reggie. In two carries yesterday he seemed more explosive. I would have saved the $3M and stuck with Reggie as the primary backup.

So Bonnafon looked pretty darn good against the Chargers right? He looked much better than Curtis Samuel at running back. So why not give him the reps that Samuel got there instead?

Been saying he needed more snaps since last season. The fact he hasn't earned more under the new coaching regime makes me wonder if the problem is his pass protection as a rb. But yes, he needs more snaps.  28 career rushes with better than a 6 ypc average and 8 catches out of the backfield for better than 9 yards per carry. These numbers scream guy needs more opportunities.

Bonnafon has played well enough, but no way would I give him more snaps at the expense of Davis/CMC. Christian and Davis compliment each other with Davis having a little more power while CMC is more explosive.  When CMC is back, he should get 60-65% of the snaps at rb with Davis getting most of the rest.  If either of the two get injured, then RB can play more.
