Panthers aired things out - in the locker room - and are closer because of it

Kind of a glaring hole that maybe should have identified before week 1? The fact that a waiver wire pickup can come in and be a leader is a HUGE detriment to Thompson, Boston and short, right? They appear to be completely incompetent at being leaders on this team.

They grew accustomed to 2 of the greatest defensive leaders in dare I say NFL history with Davis and Luke.

I'm hopeful Derrick Brown has the juice.

Instead of being concerned a new player has emerged as a leader in the locker room, be thankful we have someone else who’s emerged as a leader in the locker room.

Exactly this.

A positive for Rasul Douglas does not come at the expense of a negative for our current captains. Teddy, for example, is the most familiar player with the current offense and is being tasked with helping bring guys up to speed. KK is hurt and in a completely different environment during rehab. CMC & Okung are in the same boat there. That leaves Shaq and Tahir. Tahir was brought in as somebody familiar with what Rhule wants out of his players, and Shaq is still picking up the defense (Brian Burns credited his first strip sack to Shaq as he was prepared to defend run but Shaq called out the pass and Burns pinned his ears back).

If anything, I think this is an excellent sign of "next man up." There was a need that required addressing, and somebody stepped up to handle it. We want more of that and to encourage it, not assume that it's because others aren't doing their job. That's what shitty bosses think.

I don't think bringing in Douglas suggests anything except our corners were lacking and we needed more options. The fact he has played well and is a natural leader say lots about him but isn't a detriment to anyone else. Sometimes it takes a fresh set of outside eyes to see what isn't obvious to folks who were here since the spring.
