Chinn > Simmons

Right now, I don’t think they have a choice with all their injuries at Safety. But he’s a LB. There was a reason the Cards put him there, and only there, right away.

There are very few people on Earth that can contain the freaky TEs in the NFL. With his ridiculous athletic ability, he should be one of them. With some time. Having him move backwards from the LOS just hurts his development. Just point to the TE1 and tell Simmons to make him disappear.

It took Ryan Shazier a couple years to get it. After which, he was probably the best MLB not named Luke when he got hurt. And carries a similar athletic profile to Simmons. And he was a LB in college. Destroyed the PIT DEF for years. Devin White and Devin Bush took time last year.

Brown and Simmons are going to be fine. And everything above applies to Chinn, IMHO.  What little I’ve seen has been fantastic. How has he done in coverage? Haven’t seen enough to make a judgement. But I think he’s the same TE erasing OLB as Simmons. He can probably last a year or two as a hybrid S. My point on this is always move players forward. Would you rather have a SS who is solid in coverage or an OLB who is elite in coverage. Allowing a team to get another player who is good in covering WRs on the field.

Brown and Gross Matos also looking good.  GM will need some time but he made some nice hustle plays yesterday.  Derrick is starting to dominate the middle more and more

I agree. And remember this was only the 2nd game for YGM. I expect he’ll improve as the season goes on too.

He has that something extra but it's also clear he isn't winding up to make a big tackle, it's fluid and natural.  A normal tackle from Chinn and the other player looks like he just got knocked big time.

It’s those NFL bloodlines. His uncle is Steve Atwater HOF safety for the Broncos. Sorta reminds me of him.
