It would be the most Panther thing ever if we miss out on a top QB prospect this year. Some of you may get your wish, though. 6-10 and 7-9 for the foreseeable future. Accepting mediocrity. So pathetic

So accepting mediocrity is pathetic, but hoping your team loses is....?

What people are "wishing" is not the issue---it can play out many ways.   People in Cleveland tanked for Tim Couch.  People in Detroit tanked for Joey Harrington.  Fans in Oakland tanked for Jamarcus Russell.  Were they smart?

I don't see us tanking, but right now I see us as a 4-6 win team.

Houston will improve. Maybe. Tough 3 game stretch for them but it'll get easier.

Falcons will win. Maybe. Ryan is legit and still has an excellent offense. I refuse to beleive a group of paid competitors will keeping allpwing themselves to be memes.

Giants with also improve. Maybe. Hard maybe on This one. They'll probably be in our ball park but tbh this team has almost no talent. I don't see them taking a QB and giving up on Jones yet.

Jets, Vikings, and Lions (maybe Jags too though I'm leaning towards them overacheving this season) are the only teams I think will 100% have a worse record than us.

You didn’t even deny that your line of thinking will not win us a super bowl. I know it’s probably hard for you to understand, but that is the ultimate goal of playing in this league. Your boy at QB now will not win us one, but deep down you already know that.

I can say this---losing does more damage than most QBs do good.

That’s a bunch of bunk. Did 1 and 2 win seasons really harm us? Nope, they set up our picking Peppers/Gross and Cam/Luke.

If you love Teddy or don’t want a QB this year, that’s awesome but I wish people would stop posting this BS culture thing that losses are so bad when our two SB runs started with two seasons with 3 total wins. In both cases it got us two studs in back to back drafts that contributed greatly to our SB runs. Good drafting when you are at the top of the draft is the difference between being Cleveland and having Cam and Luke. Cleveland was Cleveland (might not be horrible this year) because they kept having awful drafts, not because of a culture of losing. They’ve been more competitive lately because instead of taking Trent Richardson, they took Myles Garrett.

If we continue our current pace, we win 6 games.  With the improved D, I see 5-6.  And then there is this--you nor I know, do we?  Devil's advocate--worse-case scenario.

I think our best-case scenario was 4-12 all along. Chargers, Cardinals, Bears, Lions and Washington were games I circled as being possible wins. But we aren’t gonna win all five of those. I still think we could beat the Lions and win at Washington and we go 3-13 to pick either first or second. Remember, there are teams (Atlanta and Miami last year) who surprise you and win down the stretch to drop in the draft order. 3-13 probably gets us the second pick and Justin Fields.

Counterpoint: a mediocre team at home had to lose the turnover battle 4-0 and we had to catch a couple breaks to win a single game. 1-15 is still possible.

The problem will fix itself. Our defense is young and secondary is weak, so aside from a rookie QB making mistakes most teams are going to put up points against us. Knowing this if we still win 6 games or more that means Teddy is playing well with our offense and we won’t be in a desperate need for a QB. If one we like falls we take him if not O-Line, CB, Safety, Linebacker would all be great options. We just let the draft fall to us. If Teddy is below average, we won’t win many games with our defense and will be in prime position to draft our next QB.

This. All day.

The tank mentality equals to having no faith in coaching and management to build upon success year after year, which is the actual Carolina plan according to both Tepper and Rhule - the men in charge.

The tank mentality is the only way we have a chance is to win the draft or tank lottery.  So basically already given up on winning through gradual improvement.

I am not sure how many games we will win this year, but after 3 weeks this team has shown some huzpah. That is all you  can ask of this team. This year.

There are a bunch of teams that will be in the running for the top of the draft. IMO, most, if not all, have guys they may HAVE to keep for a variety of reasons. So there is a real good chance that no matter what happens this year, we may have a legit shot at that oh so elusive Franchise QB.

IMO, if this team plays like it did today. No TOs, few penalties. We can compete. Let Teddy show what he has. Then let the draft shift itself out.

Furthermore, I've already started threads myself and posted several times that we aren't tanking. We're going to do the best we can. But I don't believe there's any way in hell we're going to pass up on a franchise QB whose sitting in our lap, unless Bridgewater morphs into Russell Wilson or something.

No, he won’t. But with the gaping holes in the OL, DB, LB positions also glaring, will taking a top draft QB really help us in the next 3-4 years either?  Debatable either way you look at it.  Accept the average QB and start to fill the many holes we have (who knows what QB talent will be available in three years) or risk it all on a QB now who will hopefully transition well and gamble that the future takes care of the rest of our major shortcomings.

*Disliked opinion to follow*

As appealing as taking a Trevor Lawrence or other top college QB is, fundamentally Teddy is not bottom of the barrel, and with his contract, I think the pick should go elsewhere.   Fact of the matter is it’s week three, no one in the NFL is tanking, and There’s a lot to be determined from here on out.  The players were excited to win, let’s see what happens from here against some really tough teams.

It really is a win-win for us. IF Teddy plays well, and leads us to respectability. We can just keep building around him. IF he isn't up to the task, and we have a bad year. We are in shape for that QB of the future.

Teddy deserves the chance to show what he has. Just ask his accountant. If he can get this rag tag team to play  as well, or better than today. We may be able to live with that.
