You need to start wondering what you'd give up to get Lawrence

I keep saying it, but when we signed Teddy we signed up for 4-6 wins and the coaching staff had no plans to pick at the top of the draft. The way that I understood it was that when Cam was released they would go after another Cam Newton type of player. Marty presented the opportunity to get Teddy to Rhule and Rhule deferred to Joe Brady.

We keep hoping for a franchise QB, but Teddy is what the team is (crazily) going to build around. It is going to disappoint a lot of folks and especially when we are successful less often than when Cam was here. I am hoping that the Panthers will just be terrible on their own accord, but coach Rhule will motivate and scheme their way to a couple of more wis that what was expected.

I don't believe so. On paper, I think the Panthers win 2 more games tops. Today was not good from a victory standpoint. Sure, the defense grew up which was awesome. But, Bridgewater is an absolute joke.

Without Wentz going 11-2 and being the leading candidate for the MVP before getting hurt, they probably don’t win the SB without the top seed and a bye. His last win was 291 yards and 4 TDs to beat the Rams. They lose that game and they don’t even get a bye.

People have a short term memory. He stays healthy, he wins the MVP and probably a SB as well. He was a stud that year which sometimes happens. Since he’s been not as good they haven’t sniffed a SB win. He certainly hasn’t been good since 2017, but he was an MVP level QB that year.

They won their first SB in Franchise history. They probably need to STFU if we're dead honest.

I agree to a degree, but what is scary is that the coaching staff doesn't think so.

Bridgewater isn't terrible, but he just isn't a franchise qb. And that's what you need to compete in the league now.

There were actual people on this forum thinking he was better than Cam haha

I believe they will agree as the season goes along. You can't keep sucking ass, and it be okay. Nobody is okay with that.

Didn't someone say he's on pace for 14 TD's?

I bet that if you were a fly on the wall during the daily meetings that the word "playoffs" would be often heard.

Rhule has said a few times that this season isn't about wins and losses. Tepper sent a letter to PSL owners asking them to be patient during this rebuild. I hope they aren't delusional and thinking about the playoffs this year.

Delusional? yes, but both Dante Jackson and McCaffrey have both mentioned it last week.

I’m with OP. This and next year’s first and this and next year’s seconds. I’m not impressed by the other QBs in this draft and Lawrence looks like the real deal. Best prospect since Luck, and maybe even better by the time the year is over

I hope Hurney never sees this

I understand, and I was discouraged until the two shots to DJ.

But I don't think the dink and dunk was on Teddy. Chargers still have a really good secondary (Casey Hayward, Chris Harris Jr. and Desmond King. I also love the LB from Oklohoma who's name I forget.) And an great d-line and we have no redzone targets nor a good enough oline to really hold the ball and take deep shots. We moved well between the 20s and consistently at that.

We need redzone help. But I honestly don't think thats on Teddy today.

Maybe not, I just think at some point your QB has to make a play and I guess I saw a guy who was more than willing to look short to maybe avoid the chance of a sack. Last year we were somewhere in the top 5 of 50 yard plus and we added Anderson. He took one to the house but it wasn’t a Cam to Ginn 2015 bomb, it was YAC. We’ve got three deep threats, it would be nice to use them.

I just see Teddy as an Alex Smith and KC couldn’t win in the playoffs until they got their top 10 pick Mahomes. It didn’t work out as well for SF and Kaep, but both places realized Smith could only go so far and SF and KC did have quality teams around Smith. They both went to SBs after letting him go.
