You need to start wondering what you'd give up to get Lawrence

Again not saying we stick with Teddy but this was a good day for him.

It’s odd because I think the opposite. Today is a day where I realize we can’t win it all with Teddy. The Chargers looked awful and if Allen can connect on his flip to Ekeler we would have lost. Heck if that dude doesn’t make the cover the snapper penalty or Mike Williams doesn’t get called for OPI the then the Chargers could have won with a FG. For as much as the D dominated all game until right at the end, the fact that we couldn’t put the ball in the end zone without a cheap penalty is not a good thing. That was not a good team we played.

Again, it’s like Lawrence/Fields in these discussions seems to imply we stop trying to build well. Why do we build well on offense and defense with Newman but you are so opposed to doing the same around a top QB? This isn’t like pre-Cam where QBs taken early first are somehow cap disasters like Bradford and before. That’s what the Chiefs did with Mahomes. They already had a 10-11 win team with Smith but they spent a ton on D and O because Mahomes wasn’t getting paid.

Anyway, seems like the anti top QB posts always seem to mention building around Teddy or a lower pick QB and act like we can’t do what KC did around Mahomes.

I don't disagree. If we don't take a QB but still have a top 5-10 pick, Sewell or reuniting Brady whit Jamar Chase would be bueno.

But I've mentioned multiple times Teddy, Lawrence or another QB in the draft we need to improve talent in thus thread

I believe next year will be an offensive overhaul, even though defense will still be needed after the top 5 pick we have.

If its not a QB it needs to be an offensive lineman....

I understand, and I was discouraged until the two shots to DJ.

But I don't think the dink and dunk was on Teddy. Chargers still have a really good secondary (Casey Hayward, Chris Harris Jr. and Desmond King. I also love the LB from Oklohoma who's name I forget.) And an great d-line and we have no redzone targets nor a good enough oline to really hold the ball and take deep shots. We moved well between the 20s and consistently at that.

We need redzone help. But I honestly don't think thats on Teddy today.

A lot of my family members are Eagles fans.  They sure do wish they would not have selected Wentz #2 overall.

Without Wentz going 11-2 and being the leading candidate for the MVP before getting hurt, they probably don’t win the SB without the top seed and a bye. His last win was 291 yards and 4 TDs to beat the Rams. They lose that game and they don’t even get a bye.

People have a short term memory. He stays healthy, he wins the MVP and probably a SB as well. He was a stud that year which sometimes happens. Since he’s been not as good they haven’t sniffed a SB win. He certainly hasn’t been good since 2017, but he was an MVP level QB that year.

Same, him, Fields, or TL. If we draft number 1 though, I'm not sure the coaching staff will have the luxury of drafting TL and sitting him, sadly.

I keep saying it, but when we signed Teddy we signed up for 4-6 wins and the coaching staff had no plans to pick at the top of the draft. The way that I understood it was that when Cam was released they would go after another Cam Newton type of player. Marty presented the opportunity to get Teddy to Rhule and Rhule deferred to Joe Brady.

We keep hoping for a franchise QB, but Teddy is what the team is (crazily) going to build around. It is going to disappoint a lot of folks and especially when we are successful less often than when Cam was here. I am hoping that the Panthers will just be terrible on their own accord, but coach Rhule will motivate and scheme their way to a couple of more wins than what was expected.

Samuel was encouraging today but I don't know if we keep him. Robby is very solid and DJ hopefully keeps trending up.

We need oline. Resign Moton, do whatever with Pardis and sign some FAs. TE is also needed. Ian is dissapointing and Manhertz picked up a sack on Teddy today and can't seperate.

Kenneth Murray Jr. OU fans called him K9. I wanted to draft him late in the first, because I knew Luke would be coming back to Scout for Carolina. Carolina could've had help him coach him up, K9 loves watching film too. With the right coaching, kid is going to be a stud. He would be nasty here in Carolina under Luke and this staff.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
