You need to start wondering what you'd give up to get Lawrence

I think fans who keep saying Teddy is good enough are going to get their wish of having Teddy as our long term QB. If we can win some games with this awful roster, even without CMC, then when we build a better roster over the next couple seasons we should be middle of the pack. I think we'll be near 8-8ish by the time TB is up for a new contract, and that will be good enough for Rhule to pull the trigger and keep him. Then we'll have to wait for our "magical season" when the stars align and we have a super roster that we can't keep together, but we have it for one season. That season will be the SB or bust season, and if we bust some of our older Panthers fans will pass away before we have another shot.

Sad fact and even sadder that most folks won't realize this until it actually happens even though some people have been saying it all along.

If we keep Teddy at QB, that is also debatable. Teddy is a QB that you have to have two excellent wideouts, a well above average O-Line, and a damn solid-great defense to win a Title with. While Payton showed he didn't need that, although it would've helped.

..Peyton had all of that. By the time of his second Super Bowl with the Colts he didn't need it as much. But when he first came into the league, and when he won in 07, he had a great Oline hesded by Jeff Saturday (with Dario Gleen at blindside) Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark as receiving targets, and Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeny at ends heading that defense.

TL or any elite QB you're always gonna have to team build. Always. Cam had Greg, Stew and that Defense. Mahomes has a vertical offense that scares defenses. Brady has Belichick scheming masterful gameplans to give him talented players to help him win. TL will be no different.

So explain to me how the Patriots, who always pick 30-32, keep winning without these so called elite level players?

If I had to wager I would say it's the fact they have the best coach in NFL history, and the fact they are always willing to take chances on malcontents/character risks and gamble free agent/trades Dillon/Moss/Hernadez/Brown ect just to name a few.

Not gonna happen. We had the next dynasty in our hands, all the right pieces, and we fuged up terryibly

It wasn’t going to happen anyway because Cam was ahead of his time. You saw what happened in SB 50. The refs took us out of the game. The old guard of the NFL didn’t want Cam to be the star. They stole a SB from us to give Peyton Manning his retirement trophy.

Ohhhh...so you mean losing on purpose isn’t always the best strategy?

See my reply earlier. We don't need a HoF QB to win a Superbowl or win consistently.

The last dynasty in the NFL had a 6th round QB. Brees is a 2nd round QB. Russ is a 3rd round QB.

Not saying we can't upgrade from Teddy but also lets not act like its Lawrence or bust.

Fields gives me strong Mariota/Locker vibes and I'd rather not tbh.

Got it so you were comparing the #1 pick to every other pick in the entire draft. Now compare the #1 pick to any other single pick in the draft.

Picking #1 isn't just about the player/QB selected its the fact you had full reign to pick any selected thereafter as well...

I...what

Yes? But i think barring some kind of catastrophic injury TL is easily the #1 pick.

It's weird. This place has gotten really odd since I ventured on here constantly. The sunshine pumpers, and true homers that want to win for no reason are expected. But, some random dude posting gifs? Yeah, not sure where that's from.

Probably an Igo alt

6 rings in 54 Super Bowls from #1 overall picks.

I can absolutely see that argument for first round QBs. I haven't watched any Lance yet and I'm very on the "Fields is overrated" side of things but if push comes to shove I can see taking either of those two. Unless Teddy balls the fug out I see us taking a QB this draft. Jamie Newsome is a guy I really like.

But Lawrence isn't gonna garuntee us a super bowl.

I know there's an astrik next to Luck thanks to Gringson's incompetence, but both Luck and Eli were outdone by QBs in their class in terms of consistency (Russ and Big Ben)

Lawrence is really fugin good but whether we get him or not doesn't damn us.

I'm not a Newman guy. It doesn't damn us, but it sure doesn't help us try to get away from this mediocrity we were stuck in.

Never the less, if we don't get Fields, Lawrence, or even Lance, I would just roll with shitty Teddy for another year and get Howell or maybe Spencer Rattler if OU can get their heads out of their asses.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
