That must be why Teddy is ranked 6th in the entire NFL with 8.4 yards a pass play. Because of dinking and dunking right.

1. Jared Goff 9.6 70.0%

2. Josh Allen 9.1 71.1%

3. Russell Wilson 9.0 76.7%

4. Nick Mullins 8.8 70.2%

5. Phillip Rivers 8.6 78.3%

6. Teddy Bridgewater 8.4 74.0%

7. Aaron Rodgers 8.4 67.0%

12. Cam Newton 7.8 68.1%

32. Joe Burrow 5.8 64.5%

Men lie, women lie, numbers don't.

Can't use that stat straight since it factors in YAC, for example Robby's run on the 1 TD he's thrown was over 50.  Looks like Robby has 128 on the year, Mike Davis has 127, and CMC has 64 so there's 35% of Teddy's yards right there. Hell, looks like half of Teddy's yards are YAC (420 per ESPN)

A stat like air yards would be a more useful to your argument.

Well he's hitting them in stride then, great ball placement , the net result still being the same. 8.4 yards a completion is at the top of the league.

Except that it's basically dinking and dunking at 4 Teddy-yards a completion, probably undermining your original argument but yes, a degree of credit does go to Teddy.

Only 2 TDs on the year though, a pace of 8 TDs for the year. Perhaps that takes a large upswing as the weeks progress.

Edit: shorted Teddy a TD.

Current completion yardage via air. Teddy is still in the top half of the league.

Out of curiosity, do Dak Prescott, Drew Brees, Cam Newton, Matt Stafford, Patrick Mahomes, Ben Roethlisberger, and Aaron Rogers get penalized for their YAC as well? Just wanting to make sure we are applying the standard across the board instead of moving the goalposts.

I haven't personally moved any goalposts but yes, it should apply to any yards argument IMO. However it's also why these types of stats are only part of the picture since those guys have more TDs.

For full disclosure I'm a Teddy agnostic who thinks he's a great guy who is a poor man's Alex Smith. I will be the first to eat crow though if he turns it on and I'm wrong.

I think he's less a poor man's Alex Smith and more a Teddy Bridgewater. Alex Smith had wheels, Teddy doesn't. Teddy also has better decision making and is basically in his third year as a starter. He had two years stolen from him recovering from injury and another year spent having to prove to teams that he could still play in the league. He's smart, quick, and accurate with the ball and getting it to his playmakers.

fwiw I don't think he's "the guy" for the next 7yrs myself, but he's the guy at least for this one and next. I just don't get why he's shitted on more than Kyle Allen when Kyle Allen was awful.

The stats are fine but you can just watch a guy like Mahomes/Stafford/Rodgers and its such a breath of fresh air after watching a Teddy game where you get 2 "deep" shots a game, he just doesn't want to throw the ball that far and that's fine I guess.

I personally thought Kyle got a lot of poo the second his fluke winning streak ended, which makes sense even though he never looked that good even in the games we won sans the Cardinals one. Even before, there were plenty of poster commenting on the fact that while he had no picks, he had quite a few fumbles and then once he started throwing picks the hype quieted down. Still, results produce praise.

Also, I hate to be that guy, but Alex Smith did actually have some "wheels". It's something that's often overlooked about him, but in his best year he went for 400 yards which is 2x Teddy's best rushing season. Oddly enough he ran for more as he got older, as well.

Yeah, numbers do lie and they can be manipulated. I understand yall have to back him but he is AVERAGE and a game manager and sometimes not even that. He is a VET who plays like a rookie.

Deserves a bump today. Panthers red zone problems continue

I realize you’re one of the least knowledgeable posters here when it comes to football but DJ couldn’t have asked for a better ball in that situation. Terrible drop.

Brady‘s red zone play calling this year has been questionable at best.

At some point, we were going to face a solid defense where missing a guy like CMC would be a huge factor. Add in the fact Samuel is missing as well and this was to be expected
