CMC to IR, Eligible to return by Oct. 18 Against Bears

Its a possibility that we're 0-5 when he's eligible to return, in that case, is it better to keep him fresh for a not-wrecked season, or still bring him back?  I for one would say save the mileage and get him a hundred percent for next season.  Rb lifespans in the NFL are short and he's to special of a player to waste in a dead Season.

It sounds good for the fans to say but you don't bury your best player when they are healthy. First, he's getting paid a shitload of money to play. Second, it sends a bad message to the team that you are literally not trying.

I might go for keeping him out an extra couple of weeks, but that is about it.  The extra weeks would ensure he understands he is not still playing under Rivera, who would tell him to just rub some dirt on it an go back out there.

I agree with that. There should be no playing at 80% recovered or 90% recovered. Be healed or stay on the bench. If you invest that much money in a player, you don't then flush that all down the toilet.

The money is irrelevent at this point since so much is guaranteed, and if you're Tepper you have to look and see what happened to Saquon Barkley and wonder if we should use our best asset in that way at this point because that torn ACL is a beast of an injury for a RB to come back from.  I know the players may not "like" it, but they are also themselves playing for jobs.  For instance, If Mike Davis wants to get paid, this would be his opportunity because he's a FA next offseason, and any player that would "give up" because we saved CMC for next season isn't worth keeping and building around.

Agree, but it should be taken under consideration to hold him out until he is truly 100%, not "NFL 100%." If that's 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks or whatever I don't care, but don't rush him back even slightly.
