People will spin the narrative however they want to support their opinions. Of course Tampa Bay and Oakland are garbage teams because somehow Carolina, the worst team in the league by far, came within a couple plays of winning/forcing overtime against them.

Oakland was 1 game out of a playoff spot last year, is a young team primed to improve and added some exciting draft picks. They might not be world beaters but they're at least a fringe playoff team. And people were ready to crown Tampa Bay as NFC favorites after their offseason.

The point is, the Panthers are doing as well as we could realistically hope given the circumstances and have turned each game into a fun and competitive matchup in the 4th quarter against 2 teams that should at least be in the playoff conversation. Even if they go 0-16 like this, there's reason not to be so doom and gloom around here. Let's hope they keep making strides

EXACTLY. I think we are doing good with the youth and inexperienced team without no preseason.

Saints are a completely different offense w/ Thomas IMO.  If he was on the field the Saints win.

Okay but what about the Raiders offense?

The saints aren't missing anyone on defense that's major. Yes Michael Thomas would've made a difference but the Raiders still sustained long drives and put up 31. 34-38 if that one halfback doesn't drop a carry.

Raiders have a huge, mauling Oline.

Once you have that, then the run game and passing game just seem to fall in place.  Funny how that works

Helps that Jacobs is tough as sin.

Seriously outside of Cmac he's my favorite HB to watch.

Raiders are probably a fringe playoff team. Bucs might start gelling as the season goes on although I think the Bucs should be concerned about Brady’s lack of arm strength. BA needs to put Brady in the right positions. It’s very early in the season and without a real offseason and Covid stuff we don’t really know how teams outside of the talented, cohesive ones like the chiefs and ravens are gonna be. I always say first couple games are a toss up with some teams trying to figure out their identity and get into a groove. It’s why I think people need to pump the breaks about us getting the #1 pick. We certainly are gonna be worse with cmc on the shelf for a bunch of weeks and we are not a good team but I wouldn’t be surprised to see us win some games that take us out of the running for that top pick

With 7 playoff spots per conference I doubt they are fringe first wildcard I would guess.
