Brees looks checked out mentally and physically.  The accuracy isn’t there anymore.  So now they can run Kamara into their ground, and they are in cap hell for near future.

I think this division is ready for the taking.  Maybe not this year but next year for sure.

It is very clear as to what the Panthers are trying to do. They are banking on the fact that Brees and Brady will retire this year, or the next, and then they can compete only with the Falcons for the division title. They’re thinking that they could regularly beat the Falcons and then hopefully beat them one, two, or three years for the title. They’re not building a team to consistently win the Super Bowl, but to win the division and make the playoffs for a couple of years. Maybe they get lucky once or twice in stumble their way into the Super Bowl.

I can’t say that I agree with this model for success as it’s gonna be a lot of ugly football and not resembling anything that we are been used to with Cam. It won’t gain great fan interest, but I guess it means that if they win people follow team.  I think that it will have a lack of passion that was there when Cam Newton was the QB.

Personally I think that they should go ahead and try to get a franchise quarterback and build for ten years of success rather than just two. This just reeks of Marty Hurney as it fits his M.O.

:) Which part?

You realize that Tampa and New Orleans are chock loaded with young, core players, right? It's easy to assume they will fall apart if they lose their HOF QB's but remember that both of those teams would essentially be lacking a QB.

We are in a much different position. We are lacking a QB.....and almost every single other position on the field. There is no one player fix for the Carolina Panthers, unfortunately.

I agree with all of that. I never said that the Panthers plan was going to work. Frankly, I am concerned with the current Panthers plan of retooling rather than a full rebuild. David Tepper said 25 years of success, but the current path contradicts that. It seems like five years of moderate success.

I take it as you can have a solid core of people but with no QB then you're fugged.

The Bucs have had these players for a while and nothing to show of it. The Saints defense has been better than the offense for the last few seasons but still no dice with a super bowl.

Brees is done and Brady doesn't have much longer either.

Retooling? Where are the tools? If this isn't a rebuild, I don't know what is.

Well getting a QB is a fixable problem if you have a team built to win now.

When they acquired Teddy and didn’t put Will Grier in that immediately signaled retool rather than a full rebuild. I think it’s just a sign of group think mentality where you get a group of individuals in a room and together they convince themselves that they are just a piece or two away.

In the past 2 to 3 days both Christian McCaffrey and Dante Jackson have come out and said that they are not going to lose. They fully expect to make it deep in the playoffs and perhaps finish the year in February with a win. Christian McCaffrey said yesterday that if you look at the Chargers and what they did last year where they lost their first seven games. They came back at the end of the year and were in a position to make the playoffs.

Coach Rhule has done a great job in convincing the team that they are great this year and they are going to be successful.

What you are talking about is basically asking competitive people to take a dive and not to win some giant bet. That isn't real and we've discussed that before. The last thing you want with a predominately young team is to get them cultured to losing. That is how we end up as the Browns, Bengals, Lions, etc. The fact we are still fighting and trying to win is LITERALLY the only positive thing about this season so far. If we start seeing morale break, that is when the rebuild officially has failed and we are starting from square one with new coaches.

Make no mistake, we are thin across the board and the starting quality talent is arguably the worst in the league. We are more than capable of losing without ruining the psyches of our players.

I expect them to take a dive? Will Grier is not a slouch. If you drafted a QB in the third round, then you need to find out with what you have. If you do it this way none of the players would even feel that are not trying to win. They would still all play hard and achieve exactly what they’re supposed to achieve.

Everyone would be the best they can be and if the fact of all this is that they’re not a good team, or if they are one of the worst teams, then that happened naturally.

Btw, I am not arguing with you I and I totally agree with you.
