It's a lot easier to teach a young guy better tackling technique than it is to make someone an all around better football player. Watching the ghost of what used to be LeSean McCoy break Shaq's ankles for what should've been the easiest TD of his career was just sad. This guy was supposed to be the prototype LB/S receiving TE/RB neutralizer. That sounded great on paper. Now let's hope Chinn can actually be it.

Yeah, that was fuging awful. That was literally the reason we kept Shaq around, was to be able to cover those kind of guys.

there's six other days in the week

i think there's value having one guy in the film room who's sat through meetings before

like is tony pride supposed to ask Donte Jackson things?

I've just never been a big proponent of the whole "coach on the field" thing. Players play, coaches coach. If you can't play you shouldn't be here, especially not with one of our top 10 highest cap hits.

i imagine as the season goes on/falls apart he'll take more of a back ground role or get "injured" like everyone did in 2010.

i just don't care about bad contracts in years they're not going to be competitive. the salary cap is a myth and it's not like tepper is hurting for cash.

I didn't mind extending Boston. Average safety and seemed like a bit a of a leader. So they made a safe play, can't be mad at it.

Shaq is a tough one. He's got the skill but I am taking Bradberry 10/10 times. Especially given our other CBs, lack of cap/available FAs. He was an above average corner that got paid above average corner money. Should have been with us. Him and Douglas would have been a good combo.

You don't need to use hindsight, it was plain as day when it happened.

Extending an off ball linbacker to a top contract before you even know what defense you are going to run is next level dumbassery.

We gotta get that LB paid and now!!!!!.....what about our best O lineman who is still young and healthy?....don't have time for that, I'm just trying to assemble the best 53 I can......Well, what about Bradberry instead of Shaq?  He plays the much harder position to fill, and have you looked at our division?.....The Carolina Panthers are about Linebackers and RunningBacks.....GOT IT!!!@22@!!!!

I was against all of them, including CMC. Didnt want to "tank", just not waste cap space on anyone this year. CMC could have played out this year and NEXT year, then be tagged if you wanted to keep him. Those players along with Anderson(looking like hes the best WR on the team currently) and Teddy, would not increase the win total enough. Wanted to punt this year and go balls deep in 2021.

100% agree on this. Why extend the guy to the "highest paid" RB contract at that point?? Makes no sense and even less sense during a rebuild.

Not joking about the worst move a team could make is make the RB the highest paid (by far too, even RBs that signed after havnt come close) on a team thats got 3 win potential. It was a couple of us hating on this in that CMC signing thread, 99% were super happy and agreeing. Honestly I wanted to trade him, if his agent was pulling out the "CMC will not report". His value would not be higher and hes on a rookie deal for 2 years, but herniay gave me another hernia with this signing.

Knowing what we know now? Plenty of people here never wanted them extended in the first place, there is no hindset, just more overpaying Hurney dumbassery. You do not pay big men coming off injury (Paradis, Olsen, M Kalil) and you do not pay/extend players who played next to players that drastically elevated their play (KK, Shaq). You need depth and you don’t pay fan favorites when there’s little drop off (R Kalil). When you have zero depth or forethought you’re left with zero options and overpay.

Yes these weren’t all Hurney but it’s still happening. This should be common sense. This is what teams like the Patriots DON’T do. This is somehow what huddler know and Hurney doesn’t. He will dig a hole the franchise will have to crawl out of once again.

The sad part is now the Huddle is generally right more often than Hurney when it comes to his decisions. I know I am nowhere near qualified to be an NFL gm, but it really bothers me that things I have considered to be horrible moves have actually proved to be true.

Boston was always a spot fill, and Shaq was better because of Luke. Neither deserved the contract they received. Hurney has tanked this team since his return to GM. Looking at our roster its painfully obvious there has been no long term plan in place.

Plenty of people said that at the time too(I was one). In hindsight, they did actually have the length about right for a player like CMC. If injuries start robbing significant time(which they have now), then it will obviously look much, much worse.

The market for three-down, pass catching backs in the mold of CMC and Zeke is on the upswing. If anything, we'll look like we have a value in a couple of years. poo happens to good players, not just RBs who are quasi receivers, but receivers as well.
