At what point will you start rooting for us to lose for Lawrence?

Never. I believe that creates a culture of losing.

Tanking for the next "sure thing" to come out of college. If it happens, cool. If not? The best player for us came out of the 3rd round.

Steve Smith is hardly the "best player" arguably sure.. but you would be remiss to say that off hand Peppers,Kuechly,Newton.

For me as long as we are mathematically alive in the playoff race I will root for Panthers wins.

But I think as soon as we hit that point of no return that the best thing for this franchise would be to get a generational talent in Trevor "Sunshine" Lawrence, and I may actually actively root for us to get the 1st overall pick. I did that later in the year in 2010 for Cam, but no other season, even in recent years with Rivera when we were mathematically eliminated later in the year. I think this will be another 2010 for me though, unless we see some wins in the next month or so (seems unlikely with this D and sloppy O). So at what point will you mainly be thinking of the draft? 0-5? 1-7? Or are you already actively rooting for us to lose for 1st overall?

Tank for Trevor.

Suck for Sunshine.

Lose for Lawrence.

I hate to say it but I did today. And I don’t even feel bad about it either. It’s short-term pain for long-term glory. I don’t want us to lose, I just see the writing on the wall this year. Being terrible was always the plan. I don’t care what Rhule and Co. say in public. I feel bad for people like CMC out there running into brick walls 25 times a game when he knows we’re going nowhere this year.

I said this in the game thread today - The offense will look really good next year with Trevor Lawrence running it. Bridgewater is the biggest issue with the offense. Well him and the line.  Plus, it won’t matter who’s playing QB if they don’t fix that defense. Lots of holes on this team. We’re bad. Really bad.

I don't. If it happens it happens. And if it does, it has no guarantee the Panthers will win a Superbowl. What last #1 overall pick won a superbowl with the team that drafted him?

A better outcome from losing would be Hurney getting fired. That may have more of an impact on long term success.

Chiefs Eric Fisher, 2013

Not disagreeing with you, I just like some trivia

Lawrence, Fields, Lance, Jamie Newman, plus you know there will be new faces this season like Burrow last year. It should be a nice QB class. Good year for us to be bad...

I still think Teddy can be solid and even play until our rookie is ready kind of like Alex Smith to Pat Mahomes.

Rooting for us to lose is sort of like rooting for the sun to rise or for Trump to say something stupid on twitter. It’s gonna happen whether you want it to or not. That said, I want to not go 0-16, but realistically that’s what I expect.

Don't get me wrong, I still think there's a chance that we go winless, but I saw a little bit of promise out of the defense today.
