And the thing is, as much as I loved Delhomme for his gambling man/gunslinger, gritty, all-heart-and-balls style (until the elbow injury), I remember thinking all of those years losing to better teams that the one thing we were really missing was a true, face of the franchise QB.  We spent years after Jake jumped the shark looking for that and just kept struggling...  then we finally get that one big missing piece that all those perennial contenders had in drafting Cam...  but, we did so under an incompetent staff that git him pummeled to poo for nothing, under an owner who knew Cam's worth but who would find himself ousted in an unprecedented fashion for being a creep, all so big wig brass balls could come in here and poo on any and everything we found sacred.  All those years of toiling in mediocrity, waiting for a savior at QB, and we finally get a once-in-a-lifetime, franchise QB who wins MVP and was building a HOF resume, just so he could get tossed on the street like he was Brian St. Pierre.  And we're back to toiling in mediocrity.  But honestly, Cam deserved to get out from under this shitshow.  It just hurts that our organization regardless of leadership just can't fuging get themselves right and make the right decision even when it is blatantly fuging obvious.  We would literally do handstands on hot coals with poo in our pants to make the wrong move over making the right/easy one.

F Tepper.

P.S. - Say what you want about statistics, but speaking of Jake, I would watch him pre-elbow injury 1,000 times out of 1,000 over Teddy.

How is it that we can surround Jake with talent on accident, and not cam on purpose

The huge mistake we made right out of the gate with Cam was pairing him with a defensive minded coach. JR knew they were going QB #1 that year. I know his philosophy was always to go with defensive minded HCs, but when you draft a unique talent like Cam #1 overall, you gotta break with that tendency and go get an offensive minded guy. At least Ron went out and got a guy willing to be innovative in Chud, but then Chud left and Ron went full nepotism at OC for the remainder of his tenure.

Also, they gave up that wind in the sales, for a fuging Kyle 2.0

We are absolutely competitive with a cam an cmc combo, but we'd rather forgo that for a 2 year rebuild with cmc

It's going to take a hell of a lot longer than 2 years until we're competing for the playoffs again. Even if we do get Lawrence or Fields, it will still take 1-2 years for him to get through his rookie mistakes. Get ready for a long process tbh

Look at this roster with a straight face and tell me this team could beat any of them with Cam right now? The Panthers interior offensive line couldn't get push on a pee wee team and our defense is reminiscent of a wet paper bag.

I don't think that we would, but I think we'd have a chance. Right now we have none.

Shula was downright innovative compared to Henning or Davidson.

I figured as much. I figure that there is a hard continuity with all the changes.

The second half adjustment today was pretty promising

Idc what anyone says, that 2008 offense would have won a Super Bowl with a better QB. The Oakland game that year was when the season went all downhill.

Yes, but the argument is we could have been competitive today.

Shouldn't we trade cmc, if we can't use him today? His time is short, and his effort dont translate to a rebuild.

Yeah by forgetting the forward pass existed in a 10-3 (I think) win over the Falcons that saw Chris Wienkie go 4-7 for like 40 yards.

To be fair, if Chris Weinke was my QB I'd probably forget the forward pass existed too. I'd probably just direct snap it to DeAngelo and hope for the best too.
