I love Cam and wish he was still here with every fiber of my being. But I still got no love for Teddy B. I obviously hope he does well because he is my teams QB. Maybe if he was on a $5MM/year prove it deal I’d feel differently. But letting Cam go to pickup Teddy for $20MM makes me hate TB even if that’s not TB’s fault. I know it’s not logical and I don’t care. I’m clamoring for whatever QB we can draft that is a real future franchise QB. Bridgewater feels like an off-year quarterback to me like Rodney Peete or Testeverde. A guy you have until the real future shows up.

The closest pro comparison I can think of is Chad Pennington, he has about the same arm strength and is very accurate he just doesn't have the gusto.... Athletically he's Ryan Fitzpatrick (who has the gusto just not the arm).

Half his team opted out this year before realizing they had a play at Cam Newton. Must suck to be a Pats fan rn

As long as Cam stays healthy they'll be a playoff team. "Just" a playoff team sucks for a Pats fan, but that along would qualify it as a top 10 Panthers season. We've only made the playoffs 8 times. Cam was our QB for half of them, yet so many of our "fans" hate him. Sad.

This has been my biggest thing. They know they don’t like Teddy and want Trevor. They should just be real. I hate the fake sh*t. I love the panthers and will root for them, but I’m going to call out the fake I see. Again, around week 10/11, they’ll be talking about Teddy’s accuracy too

you're right and it makes me angry.  I'm all in for Teddy and I hope he somehow improves and his game opens up.  I don't expect it, but I really don't want this team to be so bad we're drafting #1. Not this year, when so many other teams are going to be total shitshows too...

good thing is at least we can probably land Fields in the top 5.  Of course, that won't satisfy  some of the "lose for Lawrence at all costs" crew for a reason I just can't put my finger on

Oh, and a lot of the Carolinas rooting for Cam too. I know that hurts the top brass here and the panthers front office. My timeline is full of people rooting for Cam, and they’re in Greensboro and my hometown of Winston.

All of this, “the panthers fan support is growing” is false.

Thats the thing.  I feel the exact same way, except I liked Teddy in college, but in a "he's solid, I hope he continues to do well," kind of way.  But, my fandom for Cam was much more invested, because I felt a kinship with him for overcoming past mistakes off the field, and proving people wrong.  I sulked when I lost games too and wore my emotions on my sleeve, so we had that too...  and then there is the fact that he is built like fuging Optimus Prime and was the absolute, video game-like prototype guy you would want to have in a QB both in size and ability.  So, it was like creating a 99 ovr player on Madden and just watching them dominate like no one we had ever seen before.  It was FUN.

So, again, it is not Teddy's fault, and I still think he is a good dude, but we literally kicked out a former MVP and the face of the franchise at 31 years old, when many QBs are playing up to 40 now...  all so we could pay a guy who can't grip a football to throw without wearing gloves, and even then he doesn't throw well, 24M dollars...  all while we had Optimus Prime already here, who was willing to play for less.  You couldn't fug this up worse in a nightmare, but here we are.

Teddy gets undeserved hate but people need to realize that he's a tank commander and will never be nothing more than that *cough cough*Jeremy Igo

My problem is we had some ideal tank commanders already on the roster at virtually no cap hit. I know Teddy is here because he knows Brady's offense but one thing these college dudes have to understand is that unless you're a Belichick level coach, elite talent can never be passed up for a guy who "knows your system". If you can't coach elite talent to your system, then you can't coach. That's what coaches do. This isn't college. There are no SW Arkansas State A&Ms on the schedule.

Who the heck said that the dude was pennies for the next two seasons....

Oh man, there were many here. Should've been here to see it. "Give him 20 mil!" that's exactly what was said along with other things as if he were the next great QB.

What about folks that want Justin? You can’t put a label on everyone just because you think what they want is for some other reason. Sometimes people want something that is next level and don’t want to live through the QB type play that was here during the Weinke, bad Jake and Clausen years. Those years were filled with boredom and hope, but we were ultimately let down a majority of the time. If you were a fan at that time, then I am sure that you don’t want that again.

Exactly.

No amount of threads claiming "the panthers fan support is growing" will make it true.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
