Definitely. We picked them up because Cam threw the ball high. Would have been better just to get legit receivers and have cam work on his high balls. Sigh

I always say it's easier to throw to a smaller open guy than a bigger covered guy. Cam was always throwing to blanketed receivers.

They had speedsters from other sources.  It really felt like we needed a reliable possession receiver for Cam.  Just bad draft choices.

You don't take a QB with the #1 pick in the draft and then surround him with reliable possession receivers. You get him a legitimate stud at all costs. And you make sure his offensive line can protect him.

Should have just taken Von Miller if you had no intention to do both.

I was under the impression that Benjamin was initially considered a great pick there, and that there was a lot of hope for him.  But I may be wrong... I don't remember the draftnik comments that well.

but I agree.  I wish we could see Cam in his prime with Moore and Anderson...

I don't begrudge them taking Luke where they did.

I also wonder if we'd taken any WR that turned out well if they would have here.  Until recently, it has felt like we just can't develop WRs at all.

Panthers never developed a NFL quality Oline and still haven't. It's mystifying how they expect to have long term success without one. No matter who is in charge from top to bottom, they can't seem to figure that out.

Its too early to judge on that front.  Tbh, the OL seems much improved. Not great, or even good for that matter, but better than last year.

Kelvin’s claim to fame is putting up 1k yards in a lost season (garbage time) and mossing Sherman.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
