Stop whining and get ready for the long haul

None? Not a single player has been a pleasant surprise or a positive on the entire roster? Every loss is a step closer to getting a real QB in this draft. Brady has called a fine two weeks so far. Teddy shot us in the foot today twice in big ways but the playcalling itself had been fine.

No. Anderson is what I expected him to be as a solid #2 WR, and McC is McC, but I wouldn't consider those positives or pleasant surprises, just things that were expected. There has not been a single positive at all on the defensive side of the ball. None. It's an absolute dumpster fire and not a single player on D has stood out as a positive. Offensive playcalling has been disappointing, Teddy has been worse than I had hoped for, and guys who should be taking steps forward on offense have looked terrible/invisible -- Samuel, Moore, Thomas.

Lot of time for things to improve and of course we have a ton of new faces and a new coaching staff, but still I'd like to see at least something to be excited about.

Yeah at this point I don't even care.  Yeah it'd be cool to win but at least if we lose, we have a chance at Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields.  And we are going to probably lose a lot, so I have no expectations on gameday

Honestly I'm having a blast.  I get Sunday's off and take the day to just get drunk as hell watching the Panthers get clapped.  And if they win?  A freakin' great surprise.  It's a win/win.

Honestly though I don't think this rebuild will take as long as many think. If we do get Lawrence or another one of the top QBs in this draft (which seems very likely) I think we can improve the rest of the team around him within a year or two and be ready to compete pretty quickly. We'll have a crap ton of cap space and theoretically our young players will get better and we'll develop more chemistry as Rhule gets settled in and gains the trust of the locker room. I'd be surprised if we're not in the playoffs in 2 seasons. May not be serious contenders for a SB win but to at least become relevant again shouldn't take longer than that.

I can see that just wanted to see him open up the playbook a little, but its understandable to try and feel things out a bit. Really want Daley to heal up and get out there to get some reps and experience, need some competent Oline badly.

I agree. I think he will eventually get comfortable enough with his personnel to where he does open it up a bit.

Anyone expecting us to compete for anything serious this season was expecting too much, evaluate players and enjoy. we are year 1 of a 3 year rebuild as I mentioned after we signed our Free Agents, you could see that all their contracts are targeted to expire within 3 years, that wasnt a mistake.

With Hurney at gm so nobody is expecting sh*t.

Y'all wanted the team blown up, well it was, and this is what the result is. Stop whining. Our defense is going to be historically bad and our offense can maybe be competent at best.

We're 3-5 years away from being competitive. Buckle in for a long rebuild, like Tepper has been talking about for months now. He wasn't joking.

Lol they didn’t blow anything up. Hence why everyone has every right to “whine” and complain about their incompetence. I would be fine if they actually blew it up.

instead they cut a franchise QB and signed an inferior one for $20M a year. You don’t do that if you’re trying to blow it up. They don’t even let the guy throw it to the sticks in third down. They made Christian the highest paid running back in the league but refuse to give it to him on critical downs. Rebuilding teams do not go out and give huge contracts to running backs. They traded a young guard for a 35 year old left tackle on a 1 year deal. Rebuilding teams do not do that.

i think it’s time for the fans to stop pushing this whole rebuilding narrative. Then again we are talking about the most incompetent general manager in the sport, so it’s very possible he thinks he’s rebuilding and can’t even do that right.

I replied in the game thread. Could we stop saying we blew the team up? We half assed the tank. Between Teddy, Davis, Short, Anderson, Okung, Weatherly and Burris we committed to, get this, $148M in the next 2-3 years and we lost 2 compensatory picks.

Just to give you some reference to get to $148M cap used in the next two years (only Teddy is signed for 3, Okung and Davis are 1), I had to add Aaron Donald, Frank Clark and Khalil Mack’s cap hits for 2020-2021. That’s the level of players we could have added in 2022/2023 when we got competitive.

@Jeremy Igo has said multiple times that the team is not, I repeat not tanking.

Don’t blame people like me for whining. I’m not whining about losing. I’m whining that we are losing as bad as if we tanked but without the huge cap savings and draft picks.

See my post above. So much cap wasted that could have been rolled over. It was obvious we were are rebuilding team and we didn’t act like it.
