I thought he played well all things consider. No rookie camp, OTAs, weird TC, 4th rounder rookie, didnt get 1st team reps til Apple had injuries etc etc.  Hes wasnt very willing to tackle, but made a couple. Better than I excepted for 1st yr rookie picked in the 4th, honestly he shouldnt be starting but thats on herniay..

I didn't think he was bad at all. He had perfect coverage on the TD other than getting his head around to locate the ball. I saw him in the hip pocket of WR's a few times. We he great? No, of course not. I saw enough to say that I want to see more over the course of the season to see what we have.

Yea it seems age hits CBs the hardest, but we have no clue his conditioning. That one CB for the viking played until last year, was 38... Im bugged I dont remember his name. Still pride didnt play poorly at all, but at any point could become shocked toast. I have little to no hope for Djackson or Apple.

I have seen teams throw fresh WRs at CB to wear on them(mainly go routes), its almost a trend now. If they see you tired, its on.

Antoine Winfield, and his son plays for the buccaneers. Rookie.

I was fine with kicking the tires on Douglas and/or Jones, though Douglas was the wiser get due to Jones' injuries.  Signing Apple made sense bc at the time, we needed a vet CB and Apple, at one time, was a solid starting CB and still young.

Now, this is where the line should be drawn in the sand. DJax, Pride, & Elder need reps, while Douglas and Apple can hold down the other spots. No need, IMO, for an aging vet that hasn't been relevant for a few years.

Honestly, if you take back the money spent on Whitehead & Roberts, and cut Davis you would have $9.25M. We have a shade over $6M in available cap space currently, so we would then have ~ $15M.

We could have signed Cory Littleton to his contract (avg salary is just under $12M per) and had a young linebacker that would make that unit look much different than with Whitehead's old JAG ass here.

Do you mean Xavier Rhodes? He 's only 30, but he kind of hit the wall last year at 29. He was a stud, but Minnesota released him this offseason as he was playing pretty poorly for them. All their other CBs are a few years younger.

He retired in 2012 and actually had a solid last season.

Terence Newman I think

He stopped playing in 2017 and was 37 in his first season with Minnesota. He didn't really fall off a cliff.

See above, pretty sure he meant Xavier Rhodes, but he's only 30. He went from stud to not very good at all almost overnight and they released him after last year. He was 1st team All Pro in 2017 and got released in 2 years. Maybe confused Newman's age with Rhodes. Out of the 3, Rhodes was the only one that truly crashed from 1st team All Pro to bad and of course Rhodes was the only one on their roster the past 2 years.
