YGM in concussion protocol/Injury Report

As the Panthers continue preparing for their first divisional road game of the 2020 season this Sunday against the Buccaneers, they had two players on the sidelines during today’s practice session with an injury: guard Dennis Daley (ankle) and defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (concussion) missed practice while defensive tackle Kawann Short (foot) was limited.

Gross-Matos started the week with a limited practice due to what was being called an eye injury, but has since been downgraded on the report and added to the concussion protocol. He is likely to miss Sunday’s game at this point.

Cornerback Donte Jackson continued to be a full participant in practice and that is good news, especially since the Buccaneers reportedly might be without both Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (concussion). Still, with Tom Brady throwing the football, he can generally make just about any receiver at least look decent, but our chances are better with Donte out there.

 

We’ll keep an eye on Daley tomorrow, but it’s probably a safe bet to say Gross-Matos will be out for Sunday.

Short missing time with a foot injury could explain his subpar performance on Sunday. If that ends up being nagging, I guess he is just one of those guys that ends up out of the league due to wear and tear.

Yeah, Marty gets fixated on guys he overrates in the second round. In fairness, YGM is completely not one of those guys. That was almost universally liked by fans and draftniks alike.

This is very big news if it works out this way.
