Highest Panthers power ranking I've seen this season

The Athletic has their power rankings out. I scrolled to the bottom to read the Panthers, but I had to scroll back up quite a bit. I have to say I agree with this. I think the Panthers are far from the dumpster fire that other teams are currently. They have the Jets and the Dolphins as the worst in the league, which also sounds right to me.

22. Carolina Panthers

What we learned: They shouldn’t have overthought it with the game on the line. With 1:23 left, the Panthers were down 34-30 and faced a fourth-and-inches from the Raiders’ 46. Instead of giving the ball to Christian McCaffrey, new offensive coordinator Joe Brady called a fullback dive to Alex Armah. He got stuffed for no gain, and Matt Rhule lost his NFL debut. Despite the questionable call, the Panthers’ overall performance was encouraging. They scored on their first four possessions and ranked sixth league-wide in offensive EPA per snap. The defensive talent is lacking, but they could be a fun, frisky team.

The thing about week 1 is it really depends on how good the team you played against is. If you’re honest with yourself, I don’t think you would describe the Raiders as a good team.

Which means we lost to a bad west coast team at home week 1.

I don't think they are a good or bad team. I think they are mediocre, probably around the 20th best team in the league. They are no where near how bad the Jets and Dolphins are.

Agree on the Jets. I do think the Dolphins are a QB away from being a good team(who might be on the roster). They came on strong last year and added the pieces on defense this year.
