A good play by Teddy that many chastised him for.

Yeah, that is Olsen's bread and butter. Catch it in the soft spot and lay down, YACs be damned.

Makes for a long, productive career.

Edit: Speaking of TE's being open, no one was within 5 yards of Manhertz for the check down on this play. I assume this is because half the D was following CMC after they crossed (couldn't tell from this angle, but a safe bet). This was a really good play call, hope to see more like it.

I don’t think what you said is wrong. Hurney has a history at this point. Why he’s still on as gm while we clean house elsewhere is mind boggling to me. Brandon LaFell did much better in New England than here. Why did we keep bring bersin back for all those years? Seemed lazy and cheap to me. However we do it, dj ain’t that guy sadly.

Gettleman didn't do a good job of WR evaluation either. Here is the track record of these two shitty GM's.

Hurney

2002(7th Round): Walter Young - 3 year career with the Panthers. No statistical impact.

2003(2nd Round): Keary Colbert - 4 year career with the Panthers, a great rookie season and then disappeared. Played two seasons with other franchises after Carolina.

2003(5th Round): Drew Carter - 3 year career with the Panthers with minimal statistical impact. Best season was his last.

2007(2nd Round): Dwayne Jarrett - 4 year career with the Panthers. No statistical impact.

2007(4th Round): Ryne Robinson - 1 year career with the Panthers as a kick returner. No statistical impact.

2010(3rd Round): Brandon LaFell - 4 year career with the Panthers with decent production. Played five seasons after he left with is best seasons being in New England and Cincy. Solid starter in his 9 year career.

2010(3rd Round): Armanti Edwards - 4 year career with the Panthers. Played two games with Cleveland after Carolina. No statistical impact anywhere.

2010(6th Round): David Gettis - 2 year career with the Panthers. Had a solid rookie season and then never produced any statistics again.

2011(5th Round): Kealoha Pilares - 2 year career with the Panthers as a kick returner. No statistical impact.

2012(4th Round): Joe Adams - 1 year career with the Panthers as a kicker returner. No statistical impact.

2018(1st Round): DJ Moore - 3 year career with the Panthers so far. Two years of high level play and was one of the best WR's statistically in his second year. Trending towards being a franchise caliber WR.

2019(7th Round): Terry Godwin - Never played an NFL game.

Gettleman

2014(1st Round): Kelvin Benjamin - 3 year career with the Panthers. Had an excellent rookie season and second season. Eventually traded to Buffalo where we was out of the league in 2 seasons.

2017(2nd Round): Curtis Samuel - 4 year career with the Panthers so far. Has had moderate to minimal success.

So, basically 1.5 hits for Hurney and 0.2 hits for Gettleman. Definitely not good.

Even for those who argue that Moore was running his route correctly and the ball was thrown behind him (I don't agree with that but I'll give it to them), that should've been a sack if not for Teddy's pocket presence and to even deliver a catchable ball in that situation is very impressive. A catchable pass to a "#1 receiver" needs to be caught, and that's on Moore not Teddy.

Gettleman was horrible. Neither of them are great.

WR’s need to understand coverages. Moore did not on this play. It’s that simple.

That’s not a good thing. Does make me worry about the future, regardless of QB if DJ can’t maintain/improve. It’s week 1, but Moore was pretty much #2 on all of ours lists for future stars on the team to build around.
