Talking Tampa Bay Buccaneers - What do you know?

Moving on to week two of the Carolina Panthers season.

Next we have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers led by Tom Brady.

I watched some of the Bucs game on Sunday. Tom Brady looks like a shadow of his former self, but is able to make a really nice throw now and again. He still will be a tough challenge for our young inexperienced defense to defeat.

But....

Imagine with me for just a moment that the bargain basement shoppers of 2020, the Carolina Panthers, the team just trying to get their cap straight and develop a young team, defeated the big spenders. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers who went all in on 2020 signing Brady, Gronk, Fournette, etc etc. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers who think they are guaranteed a Superbowl this season.

Imagine if the Carolina Panthers defeated them. It would all but end their season. I want that. I want that so bad.

The Panthers will surely win a game or two this season. Please sweet baby jesus, let it be this one.

This may be one of only 2 or 3 winnable games left on the schedule.  Tampa is as bad as us right now but I wouldn't expect them to stay that way.  I guess you can never say never but if they fall to us they are pretty much toast in the NFCS.  Which would give me great joy.

First: I know that our pass rush has to be fire. We need to keep heat on Tom Brady all game.

Second: I think that Rhule will have tightened up our run defense. Maybe on giving up 75 yards.

Third: Better play from Shaq & Whitehead. They need to play within the system and not overreach.

If we do those things we walk away with W!

Spread opened at Panthers -9.  Oof

If what you are saying is correct that means the Panthers are nine point favorites. I think you mean +9. Otherwise, I will be trying to get my hands on every available penny I own to make that bet.

it feels like a get right game, just not for us

this

with this new bucs team, they have enough talent and winners (even if they're on their last legs) to understand what needs to happen to turn things around against a panthers team that's incredibly beatable right now

this young panthers team doesn't have that grit yet that you can at times rely on to bounce back from bad games (not that this past week was necessarily a bad game, but we're a bad team)

Panthers are honestly wildly overmatched in this one.

Tampa RB Ronald Jones ran hard against the Saints. Start him in every fantasy league. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are going up against very young corners. I expect each of them to have at least 75+ yards. Tom Brady is going to have open receivers most of the game.

On defense, the Bucs did a good job shutting down the Saints running game. They were after all the #1 rushing defense in the NFL last season. They also limited the Saints passing game as well. Bridgewater is going to have a much harder time getting the offense moving in this game because he won't have CMC to lean on in the running game. I expect the Bucs to fully shut him down rushing the ball the same way they shut down Kamara.

The Saints won in Week 1 because of turnovers. Bucs had 3 TOs. Brady threw two INTs, including a pick 6 and the other lead to a Saints TD. They had a muffed kickoff that lead to a FG. 17 points off turnovers was the difference in the game.

Even if they play a turnover free game, the Panthers might still lose this one. Bucs are very talented up and down the roster. They lost to the Saints due to Brady not being in sync with his receivers and some rustiness.

Bucs 45

Panthers 21

I will definitely have to back off my Brady being over the cliff comments for the time being, his arm looked really good in that game. He made mistakes that are pretty classic of running that idiotic Bruce Arians offense(absolutely garbage coach).

The Bucs OL is definitely weak. This is a week where we should get our counterpoint to our front seven largely getting abused by one of the best OL units in the NFL. If we don't generate regular pressure on Brady and get a few sacks, buckle in for a long year on that front seven.

The health of Mike Evans is a question mark, so that should help our weak secondary out. However, they are still loaded with weapons outside. This is a Bruce Arians offense, so expect better than average odds of being able to be in position to get INT's. While our DB's could easily get abused, we should also have the chance for some game changing turnovers, which were not there against Oakland.

Offensively, this may suck for us. That Bucs front seven is scary and they generated a lot of pressure against a pretty good New Orleans OL and a QB that gets rid of the as quickly as anyone in the NFL. I would expect to see Teddy get hit a LOT in this game and that is a huge concern. We will need the WR Corps to play much better this game and not have this be the Robby Anderson show again. Otherwise, it's gonna be a long day on the offensive side of the ball too.
