I enjoy the draft because one great draft and we’re right back in it. Simple as that.

Also, when your team goes 1-15 in the second halves of the last two seasons with the only win against a NO team sitting Brees, your hope is in the drafts.

Is it not Ok to enjoy the draft process and be a real fan now?

After already seeing that Rosen sucked and with a new coaching staff who was clearly enthralled with Murray. Flores isn’t going anywhere and picked Tua himself. They would certainly trade the pick for a boatload of assets if they get 1st overall.

Or trade Tua for whatever they could get and then draft another QB.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's more likely they'd put the pick on the auction block, but that injury and it's long-term effects is just a huge unknown.

They wouldn't have drafted him where they did if the injury was of any concern to them (they had 2 more picks that round for better value if the injury was a concern). I'd agree with you if there was a regime change or obviously if Tua plays at some point this year and gets hurt again, but outside of that I can't see them just giving up on Tua like that. The Cardinals situation with Rosen and Murray is the only other example of a top QB pick being given up on that I can think of, and that situation could not have been any more different from the Dolphins. Plus trading Tua, you're getting absolute peanuts; 1st overall pick in a year with a franchise QB sitting there you're getting a boatload of assets to improve the team around the QB. It's a no brainer to move the pick in that scenario.

 

And frankly, all of this is moot because I don't see any realistic chance that the Dolphins finish 1st overall this year, or even top 3.

I’ll give you an easier example. Was drafting LeBron James the same thing as drafting Kwame Brown? They were both drafted first overall, so the Wizards must have had bad luck because going first overall means that Kwame and LeBron were equally talented and must have received the same grade.

I’ll admit that Lawrence and Fields aren’t guaranteed anything but they are likely to be graded (even with Fields maybe not being able to play this year) way above all those guys you mentioned. No guarantee <> all first round QBs have the exact same potential. Drafts are made on potential.

We would be lucky to get both and have a true chance on a Cam replacement. Sure, if the entire team gets improved around Teddy he could do well but we’d have a heckuva lot better chance at actually winning a SB if we had a great team around a franchise QB like we did in 2015. Is Teddy getting us to the SB in 2015? No.

Comparing NBA Players to NFL players is foolish.  Different sport, fewer people involved, far easier for one person to make a difference.  Its a lot easier to say a guy who only shares a court with 4 other players is going to be a difference maker than a football player who depends on so much else to be successful.  If Trevor Lawrence played for Northwestern, very few would even know who he is.  But if a great bball player plays for a relatively small school, he can make a world of difference, as Larry Bird did.  

And you missed my point.  I was primarily referring to all the comments about tanking to get specific players.  I grant that if we are in position to draft Lawrence, maybe we should.  But intentionally trying to get into position of drafting a guy who may or may not be a success in the NFL is a waste of time.  

As far one being higher rated than the other, how do you quantify that, ie determine who is rated higher?  Jameis Winston was the highest rated qb in the draft during his year.  Many pundits rated him a sure fire success.  Trevor Lawrence will be the highest rated qb coming out this year unless something drastic happens.  Not sure you can say that one is or will be rated higher than the other.  I have seen some guys in an effort to get clicks on their site use measurements and math formulas.    Most of those end up meaningless.  

If you look at the list of today's elite quarterbacks, almost none of them were the top graded qb's in their draft class.  Mahomes was not, Lamar Jackson was not, Watson was not.  Can't remember if Aaron Rogers was, but the point remains.  Aiming for a specific player by losing enough games is almost always a waste of time.   To difficult to get in that position, and no way to ensure the player is actually worth it until they are on the field.

How about we see how our current QB does before we drool over one that hasn't played a single NFL game? I would rather we build the whole team than end up with the #1 pick. Think about what that means for the team as a whole with a new coaching staff if we were to be that bad.  Not good.

No team in the NFL is winning a championship with Teddy Bridgewater as the starter. Just won’t happen. There’s a reason he’s on his fourth team in 4 years. If your ultimate goal is to not win a title, sure, let’s stick with our current guy.

We'll end up picking in the top-8, IMO....possibly top-5. We may not have won yesterday, but I do believe this coaching staff and the level of young talent will win more than a lot of folks think.  I see us having a Dolphinsesque season where we look destined for #1 overall, but finish strong and end up with a great selection, albeit not a top-3 pick. 

Lawrence/Fields/Lance would be great, but Parsons/Surtain II would be amazing gets as well. Our defense would be stacked for the next decade.

Gotta also think Chase could be an option w/Brady here if Curtis isn't part of our future. Also, if DJ doesn't make a leap, we would still need a WR1.

I agree, I feel we will be picking between 5 and 10. If Fields drops to us you gotta do it, if not there are plenty of other grear players in area of needs
