CMC on ball given to Armah

I don't like the call but this is a learning experience for some of our coaches as well.

We were competitive. CMC played his heart out.  There were things to be excited about in this game.  We knew it was going to be a long season, but if games are competitive, at least Sundays will be enjoyable.

You can second guess whether McCaffrey should have gotten the ball but recent history has him coming up short in 4th and 1 situations more than once. Banking on Armah to plow forward for a foot isn't absurd. He came up short. Would have loved for a different outcome but if we had given it to McCaffrey and he got stuffed the same way, everyone would be up in arms how we haven't learned from the past and McCaffrey is incapable of getting us a yard when we need it the most.

Maybe the thought was the defense would focus on CMC letting Armah bust through? Either way it’s a good learning opportunity  for Joe Brady.

CMC didn’t fair any better in important short yardage plays last year from what I remember.

This. A fullback dive is usually money in those kind of situations. Our o-line just unfortunately got blown up. Just the slightest push and that's a first down. I had no problem with the call.

This. If you can’t convert on 4th and inches you deserve to lose. O-line didn’t get the push for Armah they wouldn’t have gotten it for CMC.

If we had the plan to run it up the middle, why not just call a QB sneak. We needed 1 foot - I think even Teddy Two Gloves can get that much on a sneak
