Halftime Thoughts

Offense looks good. It’s balanced and has been spreading the ball around. Like the speed.

Defense has shown promise. Young athletic, versatile players. I have seen Boston and Shaq at most tackles.

Overall, there was no preseason. So I’m optimistic with what I’m seeing. Future looks bright. Best we should have expected.

Agreed with your assessment Jeremy. Chinn made some pretty open field tackles including one on the speedy Ruggs. Bridgewater making good decisions, deciding to take 5 yards rushing over throwing a low percentage pass or risking a sack by holding onto it too long. Has been shaky on some downfield throws but hopefully it's more a matter of getting up to game conditions but we'll see. Slye, despite huddlers already annoyingly calling for his job, going 3/3 on field goals including 2/2 from 45+, is a good start. Don't forget it wasn't long ago we used to be scared to attempt field goals from 45+.

Defense needs to get some pressure but Raiders are scheming to get the ball out quick and hit the first open man. Carr is accurate on the short throws; they just have to carve out 7 yards per play and slowly march down field and we don't have much of an answer. But we knew the defense was inevitably going to have its lumps. Could have been worse.

Offensive line was looking sharp although maybe getting a bit gassed towards the end. Again if it's just conditioning since there hasn't been real football in 9 months, that's understandable. But considering how some pegged them to be historically bad, it was a good showing. No sacks so far although Teddy gets some of the credit there. Okung is looking decent for a retired player (#sarcasm).

Edited to add: This seems a lot more fun than having Grier lead us to 0-16.

Liking the offense. Smart and efficient. Fans of big plays might not like it much but it works. Could use a tight end threat though.

Defense? Not so much. They're getting pushed around. Not good especially given we're facing a backup left tackle. Definitely the weak link right now.

Offensive line looked like they were starting to fade as the half wore on. That could be a concern come fourth quarter.

Finally have decent returner in cooper

chinn looking above average

defense secondary is garbage as expected, except maybe by the coaches? Why bradberry wasn’t resigned? No money awful contract moves as expected by Hurney

KK might as well be dead money as expected by most fans, Hurney confused

teddy as expected, short throws limited mistake

Anderson running decent routes, nice pick up

shaq not proving he is worth being one of the highest paid lbs in the league, predicted by everyone except Hurney

unexpectedly Rhule is very conservative, settling for Fgs, ran bubble screens twice on 3rd and 7 while already in Fg range, first half of game, when defense is playing like trash - this needs to change

CMC still a beast, being used as more than just a Hb as I predicted

Slye still mediocre, but better than gano in the sense he’s paid pennis in comparison to miss the same XP. And he has more leg strength, this team still needs to find a kicker

Moore underwhelming as predicted

Samuel as well....as predicted

Zero TE involvement and talent, pathetic, needs to change

No pressure on QB, expected of a rookie and KK but where is Burns?

surprising decent Oline play, paradise better than last year, pleasantly suprised
