How Will You Overreact to Sunday's Game?

Hurney will call the sky "Blue".

This will lead to a major discussion on how he isn't qualified to be GM.  A "real" GM would know that its more of an azure or even the aptly named "sky blue".  (Unless you are on the west coast atm.  Stay safe).

I believe the West Coast sky is technically "Apocalyptic Hellscape Red." I think that is the exact shade.

Whatever it is on this forum, I will probably find it either entertaining or insane.

I never get excited one way or another about anything that happens on an NFL field in the month of September.  I've seen too many September champs become doormats the rest of the way, a few September doormats become good, and a few teams expected to do well look inert the first month, only to become what they were expected to be starting in about week 5.  September is more like an extension of preseason in terms of quality of play, only the results actually count.  It may be worse this year for obvious reasons.

If we are somehow above .500 ten games into this season, then I might actually get excited.  Not about us making the playoffs or grander (and more delusional) expectations, but just about the relative success at this stage, and its implications about the new staff's ability to make filet mignon out of hamburger.  Or maybe the hamburger really contains a fair amount of ground filet mignon.  But in either case, that would start to get me excited as we look ahead.

I think the overreaction will come if Cam lights up the dolphins Sunday.

regardless of our games outcome, if he balls out this place will be nuts.

I think there's a decent chance that he will. Their D is not quite there yet and Cam will probably come out very hungry and ready to go. I have my doubts if he can sustain anywhere near his previous elite play for even half a season but I wouldn't be surprised to see him light up the Dolphins week 1. And you're right, this place will go crazy if that happens; mods in for a fun Sunday.

I predict someone (not me) will post something along these lines:

"I know it was the just the Raiders and they're not the best team in the world, but based on what we just saw, this team has a chance to make the playoffs, especially in a year with three wild card teams."

And then the "less filling" will pop up to counter the "tastes great":

"It was just the Raiders, and they are not the best team in the world.  But based on what we saw, this team will not win a game all year.  Or next year.  Or the following.  In fact, they won't win a game until Rhule is gone and Tepper sells the team."

And wedged somewhere between those two lies the rest of us!

I literally have no idea what to expect. This looks like one of the few winnable games on the schedule, since Week 1 is always weird especially this year with there being no preseason. I also won't bat an eye if we lose by 20. If we win, I'll be happy but still have zero expectations for the season. If we lose I'll get even more excited about mock drafts lol.
