How Will You Overreact to Sunday's Game?

Yeah I try not to overreact too much either and when I do it's always more false positive than sky is falling stuff but I'll admit if Teddy faceplants I will be really fuging pissed off. Considering how we targeted him and the contract we gave him, even if the team's plan is for him to be a bridge QB for a future draft pick, he better damn well at least look good enough to be a mid-low end starter/game manager, ala Alex Smith or Tyrod Taylor, etc. and with McC and our solid wide receivers the stats better reflect that.

Yeah, I lean towards being a little more pessimistic outside the games but optimistic during them(depending on how rough the season is). Agreed on Teddy. Didn't love the move, didn't hate the move. But at the price we need to see the best Teddy we have seen so far. That's a pretty low bar to hit, so I am not going to accept a lot of excuses if it doesn't happen.

I won't be overreacting to anything this team does or doesn't do on gameday this season.  Anyone that does is unstable and should be ignored.

I take it you never posted in the gameday threads and how do you read the huddle with 98.7% of the posters on ignored??

My oldest son just got into the Panthers towards the end of last year (great timing huh) so watching with him will be the most important thing win or lose.

I just want the offense to be exciting.  My son went with me to the Jaguars game last year (it was great- the CMC flip TD) but then to the Falcons and Saints games which were painful to watch.

Nothing is more of a letdown than to go to a game live and have the offense lay a complete egg while losing in miserable fashion.  It's demoralizing and a total waste of a good Sunday.

I have little expectations record-wise, but I will be disappointed and concerned if the offense can not produce given the talent at the skill positions and hopefully a wunderkid at OC in Joe Brady.

I won't react too much if we are completely out of sync on Sunday given all the changes with no preseason and the coaching and roster changes, but I will be upset if the offense isn't looking good by Week 3.

I just want to see the defense play with discipline and intensity.  We are going to be completely overmatched, especially in the secondary, for most games unless something miraculous happens.  On a team with talent and depth at CB, Donte Jackson should be primarily the slot guy.  And we are expecting him to be our #1 CB.  It happens during rebuilds, but it's not good at all.

And on top of all that, we are going to face two 1st ballot Hall of Famers and another potential one for 6 games this year.  On top of having to face Mahomes and Rodgers.  They will brutalize this secondary.  And that's still not counting guys like Stafford and Murray who can light us up with their weapons.  But enough negativity.  I am looking forward to actually watching real football.

Anyway, we need at least one more solid draft and FA after we dump all this dead money to be competitive.  At least that's my hope.

I do not recall posting in the gameday thread.  But I've been around here long enough to know that drunk posting may have occurred in my younger years.  I am here mainly for the laughs.

How many possessions into the game will we be when the first person says fire Rhule in the game thread? Will we make it a quarter?

No. We could go up 7-0 on the first drive of the game and someone will find something to nitpick about in the game thread.

Kinda refreshing going into a season expecting to lose for once.  Typically, I've convinced myself (sometimes rightfully so) that we're a playoff team and contender.  This year?  I'll get drunk and watch the game/player progression with the future in mind.  No more getting drunk and getting angry...yet.

Only anger this year can come from a 5-11 type season putting us back into the ceiling of mediocre as we convince ourselves Teddy is the answer only to go 7-9 next year and 8-8 the next.

I don't overreact during rebuilding seasons because I have no expectations of winning. I just want the team to give 100% and leave it out there on the field. If they lose it's expected, and if they win it's a pleasant surprise. Now if they go out and don't even try, then I'll rant about getting rid of the slackers.
