Panthers are not done at the cornerback position

If the panthers CB get toasted, just sign Prince or Trumaine Johnson. Dont give up draft picks MARTY!!! Cockwell, Morris Claibone, or Cyrus Jones are out there if Johnson/Prince isnt your guy. I hope to god Rhule and Marty are aware of this teams win capability....

Side question- Can you trade PS players?

Not sure if Bradberry was ever that good or that our other CBs sucked so bad the other WRs were pretty much wide open within seconds. Either that or just run the ball down our throats. Terrible run defense and bad number 2/nickel CBs will make an average CB have decent stats. I don’t think he was worth top CB money. His tape never really impressed me and he seemed to get turned around pretty easily. I don’t really agree with the Shaq contract either. I would have let them both walk...

We don't have the CBs and LBs to have a decent season. Our defense is going to be shredded by any good teams we play.

Without Bradberry we have no one to line up opposite the #1WR. Jackson can't cover deep routes and long developing routes due to his shortness, and we have no other decent CBs on the roster. All other CBs we have are not good enough. Jackson belongs on the slot, and we need a good #1 and #2 CB which we don't have on the roster. Bradberry was our #1, and Jackson was a slot CB playing out of position. Now we are in deep trouble and we're out of options. Imagine if Jackson, who is going to be attacked all season, comes up gimpy or seriously injured. We're toast. Jackson needs to leap a lot to make up for his height, and the odds that he lands badly and hurts himself are sky high.

Troy Pride will probably play the slot.

This is a rebuilding team, and we have so many holes that a winning season is not an option. The roster is spooky bad. Like turn your eyes away before they opened the Arch in 'Raiders of the Lost Arch' bad.

The good news is that we will have high draft picks at the end of the season.

I wonder if we're just now realizing that wait, our #1 CB (assuming DJax pans out) is terribly mismatched against the elite #1 WRs on our divisional opponents? They're all the bigger WRs that Bradberry matches up well against. On paper, they were a great pairing. Bradberry plays well against the bigger receivers and DJax has the speed to match up against the smaller quicker guys that Bradberry struggles against. We're going to REALLY miss Bradberry this year. Wait and watch.

Gotcha, sorry. My panties are Kindve in a wad going into the season.

I completely understand. The last 2 years has been a downward spiral and we don't know yet for sure what we are locked into the next few years.

I want to see the young guys step up or be replaced. That's the positive I am grasping at.

Hurney built this crappy roster, now he gets to suffer through it like the rest of us. Like some scrub cb is going to be the difference.

Depends how good the guys he drafted perform. Even Jackson is looking like he could get murdered on the field this year...

May I introduce you to Shaq Thompson?

Overinvesting at LB and underinvesting at CB is quite the recurring theme for the Panthers.

Shaq is better than Bradberry is at his position, and the analytics guys agree!  But, we've already had this discussion.

The Panthers historically just invest more into LBs, but I wouldn't say they "overinvest" in LBs. We really need to invest in the defensive backfield via the draft. It's the most prudent and fiscally efficient way (and, I don't mean another Badberry).

Bradberry didn't even have a good season last year outside of Jared Goff and Jameis in London, you guys are seriously overvaluing him just bc he's gone and we don't have an adequate replacement bc we don't draft the position well in general. I'm glad we aren't tied to him long term, esp not for that money when Marlon Humphrey is gonna be a FA soon

We've spent a lot of draft picks on corners and they simply all busted. We aren't good at drafting them, Norman was the first in a while to pan out and he was a fifth round late bloomer. I think we've scrapped the big slow draft model for fast and athletic, results to be determined.

Also, people are being dishonest about the Shaq stuff. If we would've lost both he and Luke in the same off-season folks would be second guessing that just as much as they second guess paying him. As evidence by the way they suddenly remember Bradbury as being way better than he actually was.
