I'm definitely hung up on landing a legit franchise QB, I'm just not hung up on Trevor specifically.

The last two clear cut, slam dunk QBs were Eli and Luck. Neither proved to be the best QB in those draft classes.

The last 2 rated this high were Peyton and luck.   Both were amazing talents and produced in the nfl

Joe Brady is here to develop young QBs so that can't be Teddy or Will? Can it? I'm not mad, I wanted D. Brown. I also wanted them to draft a QB for Joe Brady a starter.

They rated Eli higher than Peyton coming out

You have a link for that because I certainly dont remember it going down like that.  Peyton was a lock at 1 just like Luck.  A google search doesnt say anything about eli above peyton.  I found a consensus on reddit that shows luck as the 1 and peyton 2 eli being 6th.

Even so Eli still won 2 super bowls and I think the floor for TL is an above average QB in the NFL.

Hindsight is always 2020. No one is going to freely admit they were in love with a Ryan Leaf or Jamarcus Russell.

Why is it whenever its the "next big prospect" its always Luck and Peyton mentioned?  Everyone knew Peyton was the real deal and there was simply no question about Luck.    I think same goes for TL however there is buzz that Fields can be as good or better than TL.  I just didnt watch enough of Fields to form an opinion.  Regardless I would love to roll the dice on either next year as our qb of the future

Because everyone likes to use the examples of highly hyped guys that worked out. While Eli won two SBs, no one thinks he's on Peyton's level as an NFL QB, despite being the slam dunk #1 overall pick in probably the best QB class of the past 30 years. The Giants gave up an absolute king's random to jump up to #1 to get him despite all the other good QB prospects on the board. That speaks volumes as to how highly Eli was thought of as a prospect.

There was so much hype for Eli it was crazy, everyone thought he was going to be better than Peyton at the time.  They kept playing that damn Eli's Coming song all the damn time.

Yep. People forget that there was a very serious Peyton vs. Ryan Leaf debate. There was no debate about Eli being #1 despite it being a very strong QB class.

There was likely no doubt because of Peyton. If Peyton doesn’t do well do you think Eli was a slam dunk? Also, Eli was a franchise QB. He wasn’t Brady or Peyton but he was a good enough QB for a long time. Same with a bunch of QBs in that class.

Also, there was no real debate on Manning and Leaf. It’s kind of like Cam and Gabbert. There was a lot of media discussion but no team at the top was selecting Leaf first. Leaf = Mirer. Teams convinced themselves they were almost as good and they went way too high.

This shows many GMs having Leaf over Manning. Eli was the consensus number 1 pick in his class. They had him rated as a can’t miss prospect.

None of those GMs would have actually made that pick. It’s easy to get interviewed and say someone has more upside due to a strong arm. None of those GMS had a chance or really even scouted either of them. Leaf absolutely busted but I don’t believe any of those GMs pick Leaf if they actually scouted them and had a chance to pick from both.

I mean Leaf’s agent even said Leaf tanked the process to get picked by SD, which Polish denied. Yes, the Colts did their due diligence because they had to and they only had two guys to review, but they weren’t taking Leaf and no team actually doing a thorough review does any different. Doesn’t mean Leaf wasn’t highly thought of since he went second but the whole Leaf would have gone first for most teams isn’t true.
