Would anyone be surprised if the only player that plays well against the Raiders is Christian McCaffrey?

I would.  It would tell me more about how bad the Raiders are than how good this team is.

Part of why I make that statement is just relative level of rust. I expect we will be much more chaotic because we are implementing an entirely new offense and defense with almost an entirely new team. But it is certainly possible that the lack of live reps gets to Oakland. Maybe they just show up and play rusty as hell. It's possible. Not likely, but possible.

We're set up to struggle with basically an entirely new team (if all you know are the names of star players), a new coaching staff and an entirely new mindset brought in by our new head coach. I think we'll see more cohesion than is expected and I think we'll see an improvement in QB work this year.

That being said, these aren't the Raiders of their heyday. And Gruden hasn't actually proved that he's able to really compete or that Mike Mayock can build a real team. Honestly, the Raiders look pretty much like the Raiders of the last 15 years... listless, directionless and soft. We could either be looking at Gruden finally righting his ship, or we could be seeing Gruden riding that ship to the bottom.

We could certainly come out looking like the better, more cohesive, hungrier, better coached team here.

LOL yes. I can’t think of a single game in NFL history, no matter how big a blowout/mismatch/choke, where the losing team only had 1 player play well. Even if we had like 3-5 players ply well that would be a very very low number. And players can play well and still get outplayed. These guys are NFL players for a reason.

Lmao that whole one player thing made me roll. Imagine only 50 yards for DJ when he was getting a hundred with Kyle (fumble if you touch me) playing QB. Like I’m so confused how we think we’ll be worse with upgrades at all positions on offense. Better WRs a better line and a much better QB we’re probably gonna put up a 50 burger continuing Brady’s offense dominance.

Debby Downer here, you might as well not watch this season and seek therapy if you're gonna be that depressed with a rebuild. I mean football is supposed to be fun, don't take a glorified game of man fetch so seriously lol

The key to this season is to have no expectations. Set the bar way low, sit back and try to enjoy.
