Drama Alert - Panthers can stick it to the Saints

Jeremy Igo

Recommended Posts

Remember just after the NFL draft, there was drama that unfolded as Tight End Tommy Stevens said the Panthers were set to sign him as a UDFA, but then in the 7th round the New Orleans Saints traded up and jumped ahead of them?

Quote

Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reported the Panthers had offered Stevens a $15,000 signing bonus and $30,000 of his salary guaranteed. After initially matching the offer, the Saints upped it to $144,000 guaranteed.

When Stevens and his agent stopped answering the Saints' calls, per Duncan, Payton and Co. sprang into action by executing the trade. After striking the deal, Payton said he texted Stevens and his agent: "I'm tired of asking. Now, I'm taking."

Well, the Saints just cut Tommy Stevens and plan to sign him to their practice squad. As it so happens, the Panthers are in the market for a tight end after making their own cuts.

The Panthers could now punch Payton in the gut by signing Stevens away.

Come on Hurney, stick it to them. DO IT!

Here is what I would do----I would get a team in the AFC to trade with one of our NFC rivals for a player we want for a conditional pick.  Then the Panthers could return the favor.  Both would be for conditional draft picks.  Then I would cut the AFC player, and the AFC team would cut the NFC player---making the conditional pick null and void and the player available.  We may not get the player, but the rival team loses the player and the draft pick. If we get the player and save the pick--win win.

I am sure there is a reason we cannot do this, but now you know how my mind works.  Payton?  He is a pussy.  Bilichick?  Wimp.

    • When it comes to weight loss, what you eat is often considered more important than when you eat. However, emerging research suggests that timing can play a significant role in achieving your weight loss goals. This article will delve into the science of meal timing, explore the best times to eat for weight loss, and provide practical tips for optimizing your eating schedule.   The Science Behind Meal Timing   Circadian Rhythms and Metabolism Our bodies operate on circadian rhythms—biological processes that follow a roughly 24-hour cycle. These rhythms affect various physiological functions, including metabolism. Studies have shown that metabolic processes vary throughout the day, influencing how effectively our bodies burn calories.   Hormonal Regulation Hormones also play a significant role in appetite regulation and metabolism. For instance: Insulin: Levels of insulin are lower in the morning, making it easier for the body to burn fat for energy. As the day progresses, insulin sensitivity can decrease, making it harder for the body to utilize glucose effectively. Leptin and Ghrelin: Leptin (the hormone that signals fullness) and ghrelin (the hunger hormone) also follow a circadian pattern, affecting hunger cues and satiety throughout the day. Understanding how these hormonal fluctuations align with meal timing can help inform eating habits that support weight loss.   The Best Times to Eat for Weight Loss   1. Eat Breakfast Within an Hour of Waking Starting your day with a nutritious breakfast can kickstart your metabolism and help regulate hunger throughout the day. Here are some reasons why breakfast is crucial: Boosts Metabolism: Eating breakfast can increase the thermic effect of food (TEF), which is the energy expenditure associated with digesting and processing food. Reduces Cravings: Consuming a balanced breakfast can help control cravings later in the day, reducing the likelihood of overeating. Enhances Focus: A healthy breakfast can improve cognitive function, providing the energy needed for a productive day. Aim for a breakfast rich in protein and healthy fats, which can promote satiety and prevent mid-morning hunger.   2. Have Regular Meals and Snacks Consistency is key when it comes to meal timing. Establishing a regular eating schedule can help regulate hunger hormones and prevent extreme hunger that leads to overeating. Here’s how to structure your meals: Three Main Meals: Aim for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at roughly the same times each day. Healthy Snacks: If needed, include healthy snacks between meals to maintain energy levels and curb hunger.   3. Timing Your Meals Around Physical Activity Exercising can significantly affect how your body processes food. Here’s how to align your meals with your workout schedule: Pre-Workout Nutrition: Eating a light meal or snack rich in carbohydrates and protein about 30-60 minutes before exercise can provide the energy needed for a productive workout. Post-Workout Nutrition: Consuming a balanced meal containing protein and carbohydrates within two hours after exercising can aid recovery and support muscle growth. By timing your meals around physical activity, you can maximize energy expenditure and recovery.   4. Limit Late-Night Eating Eating late at night has been linked to weight gain for several reasons: Decreased Insulin Sensitivity: Late-night eating can lead to higher blood sugar levels and decreased insulin sensitivity, making it harder for your body to process glucose. Increased Caloric Intake: Late-night snacks are often less healthy and more calorically dense, leading to unintentional overeating. Disrupted Sleep: Eating close to bedtime can affect sleep quality, which can indirectly impact weight management. To promote weight loss, aim to finish eating at least 2-3 hours before bedtime. This allows your body to digest food properly and may improve sleep quality.   5. Consider Intermittent Fasting Intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating pattern that alternates between periods of eating and fasting. Research has shown that IF can be effective for weight loss and may offer various health benefits. There are several methods of intermittent fasting: 16/8 Method: This approach involves fasting for 16 hours and eating during an 8-hour window. For example, you might eat between 12 PM and 8 PM. 5:2 Diet: In this method, you eat normally for five days a week and restrict calories (around 500-600) for two non-consecutive days. Eat-Stop-Eat: This involves fasting for 24 hours once or twice a week. Intermittent fasting can help control hunger and reduce calorie intake while allowing flexibility in meal timing.   Practical Tips for Optimizing Meal Timing   1. Plan Your Meals Ahead Planning meals in advance can help you stick to a regular eating schedule. Consider preparing meals on weekends or using a meal prep service to ensure you have healthy options readily available.   2. Listen to Your Body While general guidelines are helpful, individual needs vary. Pay attention to your body’s hunger cues and energy levels. If you’re genuinely hungry, don’t hesitate to eat, even if it’s not the “ideal” time.   3. Stay Hydrated Sometimes, thirst can be mistaken for hunger. Drinking water throughout the day can help you stay hydrated and may reduce unnecessary snacking.   4. Limit Processed Foods Focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods. Processed foods can lead to unhealthy snacking and make it more challenging to regulate hunger and fullness.   5. Practice Mindful Eating Being mindful while eating can help you enjoy your meals more and recognize when you’re full. Take time to savor each bite, chew slowly, and minimize distractions.   Conclusion The best time to eat for weight loss involves a combination of listening to your body, aligning your meals with your daily schedule, and understanding the science of meal timing. By focusing on regular meals, incorporating exercise into your eating schedule, and being mindful of when and what you eat, you can create a sustainable approach to weight management. Remember, individual needs may vary, so it’s essential to find a routine that works best for you. Ultimately, a balanced diet combined with mindful eating practices will lead to lasting success on your weight loss journey.   Click Here https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384428572_Nagano_Lean_Body_Tonic_Reviews_-_Does_this_Weight_Loss_Formula_Work   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384428554_SoulMate_Sketch_Reviews_-_Is_It_Legit_Worth_Buying_Read   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384427201_Tina_Aldea's_Psychic_Artist_Reviews_-_Is_It_Legit_PDF_Download   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384428550_His_Secret_Obsession_Reviews_-_Legit_Program_or_Not_Worthy_Read   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384428513_Quietum_Plus_Reviews_Critical_Report_Is_It_Safe_Effective   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384427676_Dentavim_Reviews_-_Is_it_Worth_the_Money_Must_Read   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384428788_Amyl_Guard_Reviews_-_Safe_Supplement_Must_Read_Before_Buy   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384429020_Kerassentials_Reviews_-_Effective_Fungus_Infection_Formula_Read_Before_You_Buy   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384429153_The_Okinawa_Flat_Belly_Tonic_Reviews_-_Does_It_Really_Work_Is_It_Safe_Read   https://www.researchgate.net/publication/384428950_Zeneara_Reviews_-_Is_it_Safe_Effective_Must_Read_This_Before_Buy

    • Understanding Age-Related Eye Changes In Your 30s In your 30s, many people experience subtle changes in vision. While serious issues may not arise, it’s essential to stay vigilant. Common changes include: Decreased Accommodation: You may notice difficulty focusing on close objects, a precursor to presbyopia, which typically begins in your 40s.   Increased Dryness: Hormonal changes and prolonged screen time can lead to dry eyes.   Early Signs of Eye Conditions: While less common, conditions like early-stage glaucoma may begin to develop. In Your 40s By your 40s, eye changes become more pronounced: Presbyopia: This condition makes it harder to focus on close objects, often requiring reading glasses.   Increased Risk of Eye Diseases: Conditions like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) start to become more prevalent.   Changes in Color Perception: You may notice that colors appear less vibrant. In Your 50s and Beyond As you enter your 50s and beyond, the risk for more severe eye conditions increases: Cataracts: The clouding of the eye's lens can affect vision, leading to glare and difficulty seeing at night.   AMD: This can lead to a gradual loss of central vision.   Diabetic Retinopathy: For those with diabetes, this condition poses a significant risk and can lead to vision loss. Eye Health Strategies by Decade Eye Health in Your 30s Schedule Regular Eye Exams Regular eye exams are crucial, even if you feel your vision is fine. Aim for a comprehensive eye exam every two years. During these exams, your eye doctor can: Monitor for early signs of eye conditions.   Update your prescription if you wear glasses or contacts. Practice Digital Eye Care With increased screen time due to work and personal use, digital eye strain can become a concern. To alleviate this: Follow the 20-20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to reduce eye strain.   Adjust Your Workspace: Ensure proper lighting and screen positioning to minimize glare and strain. Stay Hydrated and Eat Well Nutrition plays a significant role in eye health. Focus on a balanced diet rich in: Leafy Greens: Foods high in lutein and zeaxanthin, like spinach and kale, support eye health.   Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Found in fish like salmon, these can help reduce the risk of dry eyes. Protect Your Eyes from UV Light UV exposure can lead to long-term damage, increasing the risk of cataracts and other issues: Wear Sunglasses: Choose sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays whenever outdoors.   Use a Hat: A wide-brimmed hat can provide additional protection from sunlight. Eye Health in Your 40s Stay Vigilant About Presbyopia As presbyopia sets in, you may find yourself needing reading glasses. To adapt: Consider Multifocal Lenses: These can provide a seamless transition between different focal lengths.   Practice Good Lighting: Ensure your reading or work area is well-lit to reduce strain. Monitor for Eye Conditions The risk of developing eye diseases increases in your 40s. Be aware of symptoms like: Blurred vision.   Difficulty seeing at night.   Increased sensitivity to glare. If you notice any of these signs, consult your eye care professional promptly. Manage Systemic Health Conditions like diabetes and hypertension can impact eye health. To support overall health: Maintain a Healthy Weight: Excess weight can lead to systemic diseases that affect your vision.   Exercise Regularly: Physical activity improves circulation and helps manage weight. Limit Screen Time and Blue Light Exposure Consider using blue light filters on your devices to minimize digital eye strain. Additionally: Take Frequent Breaks: Step away from screens regularly to rest your eyes.   Invest in Blue Light Blocking Glasses: These can reduce glare and discomfort. Eye Health in Your 50s and Beyond Schedule Annual Eye Exams As you age, the importance of regular eye exams increases. Aim for annual visits to monitor: Changes in vision.   Risk factors for conditions like AMD and cataracts. Embrace Healthy Lifestyle Choices Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can significantly affect your eye health: Quit Smoking: Smoking increases the risk of developing eye diseases. Seek support to quit if necessary.   Stay Active: Engage in regular exercise to promote circulation and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Focus on Nutrition for Eye Health In addition to a balanced diet, consider specific nutrients beneficial for your eyes: Vitamin C: Found in citrus fruits and berries, this antioxidant helps reduce the risk of cataracts.   Zinc: Present in meat, shellfish, and legumes, zinc is vital for retinal health. Manage Existing Health Conditions If you have chronic conditions like diabetes or hypertension, managing these effectively is crucial for protecting your vision: Regular Check-Ups: Keep up with your healthcare appointments to monitor and manage your conditions.   Adhere to Treatment Plans: Follow prescribed treatments to maintain your overall health and eye health. Consider Eye-Healthy Supplements Consult your eye care professional about the benefits of eye health supplements, particularly those containing: Lutein and Zeaxanthin: These antioxidants help protect against oxidative damage.   Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Supplements can also support dry eye symptoms. Lifestyle Adjustments for Ongoing Eye Health 1. Protect Against Eye Injuries Be mindful of activities that could lead to eye injuries, especially if you engage in sports or DIY projects: Wear Protective Eyewear: Use safety glasses when working with tools, chemicals, or during sports.   Be Cautious with Contact Lenses: Always follow hygiene practices to avoid infections. 2. Practice Good Sleep Hygiene Quality sleep is vital for overall health, including eye health: Create a Sleep Routine: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.   Limit Screen Time Before Bed: Reduce blue light exposure to promote better sleep quality. 3. Stay Informed About Eye Health Keep abreast of the latest research and recommendations regarding eye health: Follow Reputable Sources: Organizations like the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) provide valuable resources.   Engage in Community Programs: Participate in local health fairs or eye health workshops to learn and share information. 4. Be Mindful of Environmental Factors Environmental conditions can impact eye health: Use a Humidifier: In dry climates or during winter, using a humidifier can help prevent dry eyes.   Manage Allergies: If you suffer from allergies, keep medications on hand and minimize exposure to allergens.
