I don't know how, but the Saints are trying to sign Clowney

you realize it's only a one year deal?

What's a one year deal? The non-existent deal he hasn't signed?  Even if it's a one year deal, what does that change?  Are you saying this is just a temporary stopgap until Davenport is ready to take over the role full-time?  If he still isn't ready to do that going into his third year, then that ain't a good sign.

Oh I’m not arguing that. Just bad timing... Plus I’m not sold on Clowney being “elite” he disappears too often in games not to mention the injury history...

Oh he's definitely a bust but he is still an elite pass rush guy. If you adjust to per game pressures(PFR stat) he would have been 15th in the NFL last year for all LB's and DE's.

That said, I wouldn't want the Panthers to sign him. Even on a one year deal.

The smart thing to do is load up the roster with talent when you have a HoF QB near the end of his career. Future cap space is never a problem for smart teams. Only foolish teams like our Panthers end up and cap hell for multiple seasons with ungodly dead cap. We sign horrible players on their last legs to mega blockbuster deals and then wonder why other teams can sign superstars and be fine cap wise.
