I don't know how, but the Saints are trying to sign Clowney

Per NFL.com the Saints have been in discussions with Clowney and have reached out to players in hopes of renegotiating some contracts to make it happen.

The Saints exist outside of the NFL salary cap. It has never applied to them somehow. Brees makes 210 million a season. No lie.

This came up on the Around the NFL podcasts this week. Rosenthal says the Saints are looking like 80mil over for next season and that's before they do any deal with Kamara. They're hosed, capwise.

The thing is I've heard they are hosed for 10 years straight and it never seems to happen.

If the cap retracts, I am not sure all their fancy book work will function. 

Then again, Belicheat is allowed to cheat his way to success every single season without any real punishment so maybe the NFL has just decided the salary cap only applies to 31 teams.

The saints are banking on the new CBA negotiations saving their ass. They’ve been gaming the system in hopes of a reset come next season. If it doesn’t live up to their hopes they’ll be hosed, theoretically. I frankly don’t know how they made it to this season.

CBA has already been ratified. The only thing that might be up for negotiation is the cap retraction due to coronAIDS.

They are either absolutely fuged or the cap isn't real. Those are the two only scenarios I see.

If you remove the one title, the Saints under Brees/Peyton are basically the east coast San Diego Chargers.

They also know the NFL wouldn’t dare to risk loosing one of their precious teams during the season. So they would only really be looking at draft & monitory penalties unless the league absolutely gutted their roster for them.

I believe that a part of the reason that the Saints continue to make it work is because the players believe! They feel they can win through consistency & with Bress, so they're app to make sacrifices to put a ring on it.

Man I can't wait to we get there...
