Imagine spending tens of thousands on dollars on virtual Madden NFL trading cards.  YIKES.

It's tough man, because it's not regulated as it should be.  But, you're right, it's insane...  spending thousands on virtual content that becomes completely obsolete and worthless 8n less than a year's time.  How did we get here?  Lol

To be honest, EA only cares about MUT now because people will spend their paycheck for a card.... Franchise mode is neglected completely and it is just a roster update from last year .

That is exactly what has happened. They are cashing in on MUT & neglected Franchise.  They will lose out if 2K ever gets the OK to create a simulation football game.

Madden is improved on gameplay itself which does not affect me because I only play H2H online.  MUT is fun but you have to spend a lot of time building your team. As a family man I can’t dedicate that much time. I can jump straight into H2H with my Panthers & call it a day.

For real.  Thats quite the racket that EA has carved out for themselves.  Billions of dollars a year of worthless 1's and 0's that become wholly obsolete and useless when the next version comes out.

They really just need to offer one game to last a few years and each season they update the rosters with improvements to the game each year. The biggest selling point is new players each year. If they could just create solid game play and leave it untouched until they get enough feedback to tweek it would be fine.

Madden 05 was easily the best one they ever made.

I played a LOT of Madden 05. And then I played a LOT of Madden 07, because I really enjoyed 3rd person Superstar mode. I liked the idea of playing one player on the field and not having to be responsible for everything going on. It was a neat gimmick.

I haven't played any Madden game since then.

it's not that simple though...  I agree on the premise, but it goes deeper than just buying the game now...  the majority of the money EA is making is through MUT, not selling copies of the game itself.  At various points in the year, they're selling each year's edition for $30 or less...  they then lure people into playing MUT and packs of cards or bundles of packs range for $2 a pop to $100.  And there are guys on YouTube who literally spend tens of thousands every year on packs.  That's why EA won't fix gameplay, improve the quality of their game, or address other modes at all...  they're making millions on millions (I think I even read billions) in revenue each year off their online casino bullshit.  And people won't quit buying it bc the mode has essentially turned into a virtual dick measuring contest, so most players can't get out of the way of their own egos to boycott it.

Yeah, the console games are definitely take a page out of the app developer's playbook with this in-game purchase stuff. I've never spent a dime on that stuff. I just don't care enough.

The yearly release expectation is really the problem.  With such a tight timeline, all we are going to get are the incremental updates, with new features on top of pretty much the same game.  1 year is not long enough to create a game the scope of Madden from the ground up.

They need to simplify the gameplay and make it fun again.

Take a look around. The top game in the world right now is a bunch of jelly beans in costumes racing an obstacle course.

Just give me a fun game that is easy to play and talk crap to who ever I am playing.

Yeah working in software it’s ridiculous that they change up stupid stuff like the menus every year as well as randomly adding and dropping features.

it feel like the contract out a Skeleton crew every year or something.
