People talk like this every time the EA contract is up for renewal.  Its all like "NOW we will finally get the new 2K NFL game of our dreams!"  Then the NFL is like "Nah, just kidding" and we get 5 more years of dogshit.

If you can find a backwards compatible PS3 you can play a lot of solid older Maddens. 
 

Madden 05 was easily the best one they ever made. 
 

They’ve been horrific ever sense. 

A publicly traded company that only cares about profit margins vs a truly good product. 
 

Plus they have the market cornered. 
 

Plus the NFL hasn’t cared.

It's the same game I bought years ago with a few updates. 

Franchise mode is still severely lacking and they continue to push the MUT which is just a microtransaction machine and a means for them to make money off of people. 

It really is sad how bad stagnant the game has gotten. I don't think it's been great since it made the jump to the 360 console, which is also roughly when 2k had to stop making their version of the game. 

MUT was what turned me away from the franchise. If I wanted to get microtransactioned to death I'd play a mobile game.

Lol, my youngest finally used some of his Christmas gift card and got Madden. I assum to play with his friends and honestly, he probably likes it because I can’t recall how many years it’s been since he bought Madden. They’ve played basketball games among the non sports games but it’s been probably 4 years so he probably likes it. Seems like the only compliment was the head to head and I’d assume that’s what he is doing.

To be honest, EA only cares about MUT now because people will spend their paycheck for a card.... Franchise mode is neglected completely and it is just a roster update from last year .

Took last year off as a sort of boycott due to the pay-to-play format EA started emphasizing via MUT.  That mode and microtransactions are essentially what has killed the quality of the product.  But, yes, I bought it again this year, I guess in part to compensate for the lack of football we'd usually be getting around this time...  funny thing is, all the bad reviews are interesting to me, bc the game is literally the same as it was in 19, 18, 17, etc...  They tweak movement a little bit, but player models, plays, hits, catches, and the like are and have been the exact same for years now. 

The reason for the bad reviews are prolly a combination of people being fed up with getting the same product every year, and the fact that there were more inexcusable glitches and bugs present on release than ever before.  They can all be fixed, but problem is, they never should've been present when the game released...  it's just laziness.  Ron Rivera is still our coach in games, names and words are misspelled, if you play with a friend and they snap the ball out of shotgun they disappear and you gain control of the QB, just to name a few issues...

Madden 10 (franchise mode) is still in my PS3 for those rare times I feel like playing a football game. It's quite enjoyable.

it's not that simple though...  I agree on the premise, but it goes deeper than just buying the game now...  the majority of the money EA is making is through MUT, not selling copies of the game itself.  At various points in the year, they're selling each year's edition for $30 or less...  they then lure people into playing MUT and packs of cards or bundles of packs range for $2 a pop to $100.  And there are guys on YouTube who literally spend tens of thousands every year on packs.  That's why EA won't fix gameplay, improve the quality of their game, or address other modes at all...  they're making millions on millions (I think I even read billions) in revenue each year off their online casino bullshit.  And people won't quit buying it bc the mode has essentially turned into a virtual dick measuring contest, so most players can't get out of the way of their own egos to boycott it.

Imagine spending tens of thousands on dollars on virtual Madden NFL trading cards.  YIKES.
