RIP Black Panther

Well this just blows....

Don't tend to keep up with celeb news much so didn't even know he was sick. Such a talented actor and class act all around. We didn't get to enjoy his talents nearly enough. Loved him as Vontae Mack, Thurgood Marshall and The Black Panther, but the role I will always remember him for is playing the incomparable Jackie Robinson in 42. It was always going to require an especially talented actor to convey Robinson's unique and otherworldly ability to compete at the highest level while exercising inhuman restraint against all the bile directed his way. Boseman was more than equal to the task. It is not especially difficult to convey emotion when leaping across screens dueling bad guys, blowing up quarterbacks as a pass rusher or railing in front of juries as a lawyer, but to be able to quietly convey the inner struggle of a man who wants deeply to lash out against the injustice and indecency of an unfair system but fights to constrain himself for the sake of the greater cause of changing that system requires an even greater level of talent. If you haven't seen 42, you need to.

Robinson was a great american, and Boseman did him proud in telling his story.

Celebrating his life and contributions today, mourning the loss of the man and the stories he might yet have helped tell.

Sad. Great young actor.

I wonder what will happen to the BP franchise?

they've probably known about this possibility for a few years.

there's a lot of options within the actual canon of the story. Also they're comic books. They can just say that Michael B Anderson was brought back to life too and he's learned the error of his ways.

Hopefully they will find someone to fill those shoes. Perhaps one of the male actors on this list:

Or some as yet unknown talent waiting to be discovered.  Either way there is clearly demand for more BP films and overall Marvel did a great job with it, so the hope is they could continue the success with another talent. Won't be the same but can still be great. As they say in showbiz "The show must go on."

    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay and he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.
    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.
    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.
