Oh, don't get me wrong. I'd be completely fine with moving on from Manhertz. IMO, he's a "blocking TE" who offers nothing as a receiver and if I'm being honest is pretty sorry at blocking too.

Yeah, I don't get that. I think Shaq is basically a JAG as a starter, but Armah and Manhertz are JAGs in that they're just fighting for roster spots. There's levels to this JAGdom.

He did it all in college, but that was at Southwest Georgia Northeast Central and Furniture Repair Institute--not sure he can do anything else in the NFL than FB.

Yeah if we don't want to use a FB that's fine, it may not fit in well with Brady's scheme at all. And no Armah's not some elite player. But if we're keeping a blocking TE behind Thomas, it better be Armah over Manhertz because Manhertz is actually pretty worthless as a blocker. Armah is a very solid blocker. I also do think he has potential as a receiving weapon, but he's never really been given the opportunity in that regard. Realistically though, neither guy is a big impact player and no matter what we do with them it won't have a huge effect on the team. I obviously do like having a FB and having Armah in general though so that's my preference, but not gonna lose sleep over it if we let him go.

Our takeaway: Rhule once referred to Manhertz as having the potential to be the best blocking tight end in the league. But the former basketball player makes this list because he’s going beyond that. He only has six receptions in his six-year NFL career. The Panthers are going to be using two tight end sets, as Rhule said Tuesday, and getting Manhertz, 28, more involved in the offense. FB ALEX ARMAH

Rhule says: “Alex Armah, who’s a guy that’s just showing us his versatility and saying, ‘Hey coach, you can count on me, you can play with me.’ ”

Our takeaway: Based on the previous offenses Brady has been apart of, there isn’t a whole lot of room for a fullback. But Armah has been used in a surprising number of ways throughout camp practices. A potential cut candidate has instead impressed the coaching staff so far. Although we can’t get into too many details about the ways he has been used, due to media protocols, he has looked good in camp and isn’t so bad with the ball in his hands.

Manhertz CAN block, but couldn't catch the clap in a Vietnamese whorehouse. Armah can do both. And was big on ST last year IIRC.

I'm sorry but Manhertz was getting Cam hit as much as Kalil, or Daryl Williams. Every player gets beat on a play sometimes but these 3 guys would give up free running start type hits

To the main point. Armah hasnt shown to be a blocker only. If anything I think hes be a better weapon than blocker. Blocking is a nack that doesnt really relate to being a fantastic athlete.

Manhertz is broadly known as a good blocker.
