Country music, currently, is straight up garbage. Sure there are some solid performers here and there (Someone mentioned Chris Stapleton) But main stream country, like main stream rap is industry created trash music. Florida Georgia Line? That fat guy from South Carolina Luke whatever...are you kidding me? Don’t forget that Eric Church is a rich kid who had his daddy finance his music career. 
 

real country is George Straight, HWJR, brooks and Dunn, John Anderson, DAC, Sammy Kershaw, etc. NOT that bubble gum garbage with fake cowboys that drink white claws that is popular now.

Main stream rap music is garbage. Main Street country is garbage. They are both trash music. Every song is the same. Rappers just mumble now and have ZERO flow, and the country singers just sing about the troops, beer, and girls.

The blues is more my thing in the last 5 years.

All great rock n roll bands were blues cover bands in the beginning.

Older Country, some bluegrass is good

New country is just pop music for guys that can't dance

Bro I have great taste in music. I used to work in the industry. I like rap, country, rock, mo town, beach, but they all have the same thing in common - it’s all classic and old school stuff. Not too many bands or performers I’ve been feeling lately. And by lately I mean like the past decade.

Main stream country music is just awful. It’s the worst of the worst. It’s so fake and corny. Most of these country singers probably don’t even know how to change a flat tire. My in-laws love that poo. I heard that up down up down song and wanted to throw the radio into the fuging ocean.

I totally agree. One thing that gets on my nerves is how pop music is trying to incorporate trance/house/techno into the music. Leave that poo alone.

There’s some New stuff that I like Every now and then but I have discovered that there is even more “classic” or older stuff that I like much much more.

Cash was a real motherfuger that’s why. I don’t think he had a great vocal pitch but the guy wrote and sang from his heart and soul and it shows. People connect with it because it’s real.

Considering the music was country and 40 years old--I was surprised to see that people who were born before he died were listening to him---crossed some pretty big barriers--race, time, and genre.

What Cash stood for and against was much better than his actual singing.  Lyrics said a lot
