We always knew our CBs were gonna be a problem. Resigning Shaq over Bradberry is gonna be an interesting one to follow. I always thought it was a mistake simply due to positional value. It's a lot easier to find non-pass rushing LBs than it is CBs.

But do you overpay Bradberry just to have a guy?  Especially on a rebuilding team.  Unless you think he is a top 10 CB in the league.

Same argument could be made for Shaq though.

I would take Bradberry and his contract over Shaq and his. Particularly since Bradberry matches up so well against the #1 WRs in our division.

Yes, especially if you can swap out the current contracts.

27M for 2 years for Shaq,

30M for 2 years of Bradberry.

One is a very good corner, the other is a good off ball outside linebacker.

Imagine being willing to pay Bradberry to cover one person but not Shaq to stop the run, cover tight ends and running backs, blitz, etc

Zylstra iirc was one of the ST gunners as well last season. Versatility is going to be huge with this coaching staff.

But what if that one person is:

Mike Evans

Mike Thomas

Julio Jones

Chris Godwin

Has Shaq shown the ability to do all those things at a high level?  He has big shoes to fill and he is being paid top level money to show us.   Don't let us down Shaq!!

I'm don't agree that pressuring those guys is as important as pressuring Brees/Kamara/Cook, Brady/McCoy/Gronkowski, and Ryan/Freeman/Hurst.

To nitpick, if that one person is Evans then he isn't covering Godwin and vice versa (unless we're keeping him in zone, then I question the wisdom of paying $15M for a zone CB).
