Okung tweeting COVID conspiracy theories

Russ is deep into posting about government skepticism and cryptocurrency online and in the past few weeks he's started dismissing the pandemic. Far cry from the reports that he was considering retiring as a precaution.

Despite being anti-mask he's complying with the NFL mandate "for now":

A little worrisome because if he's not taking it seriously he's a high risk to contract it off the field.

I saw a hilarious explanation for masks last week.

Let's say for some horrible reason, my rear end was in a person's face.  If I sharted, wouldn't they wish I was wearing clothing?  Or would they rather me do it bare assed?

Why does it seem like celebrities love to spread such non-sense?  Or is it just heightened by their status, and the reality is there are way more morons out there than it would seem?

The answer to the last question is yes. There are just as many morons that happen to be beautiful and strong, maybe more. Celebrities aren’t Mensa, so you get a lot of this unless they are so rich that someone handles their media.

This and add in the fact they tend to be surrounded by people telling them what they want to hear and few if any critical or countering voices, and it's entirely possible for their perception of reality to get warped. See Kevin Smith's hilarious story about his interactions with Prince for a good example.

Very good point. When you talk about living life in a bubble, being a top celebrity is just that. The celebrity is basically like a company at that point and all the hanger ons do whatever they can to support the company that’s paying them big money often to people who would never see that kind of money/lifestyle in real jobs.

This is a cuttable offense imo.

speaking strictly to the numbers in my county; covid transmission has been cut in half since the required mask mandate and that’s with people going out way more and things back to a somewhat “normal”

of course there is probably a video of “doctors” sponsored by the far right “tea party patriots” with a witch doctor and a pediatrician talking about teachers unions that say covid isn’t a big deal and we’re being lied to. But that’s not political.

there is a huge cultural problem in America. Selfishness, greed, anti-science among many other things. Mask up, if the data is somehow proven to be false in regards to masks maybe you could still sleep soundly knowing that you cared about your fellow citizens to try your best to protect them with the information we have available right now. It doesn’t make you weak and it doesn’t make you a sheep. It makes you empathetic. That’s the best quality a person can have imo.

This is going to go down as one of the worst trades the team has ever been involved in. I’ve seen much, much worse from celebrities in regards to “mask conspiracies” but he needs to log off of YouTube and worry about getting his fat ass into shape.

One reason why, and this is my opinion, is that they have a lot of free time to do whatever they want - like go down YouTube rabbit holes.

It could but it might have to do more with Turner. Yes, he was a shell of himself last year but finishing two seasons 1-7 and 0-8 can do that to someone who was part of a run of 4 playoffs/1 SB in 5 years.

Turner could easily turn it around and be deserving of a pro bowl. He just turned 27 in June. I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see him get back to a top G. That would suck to see. Rhule likely didn’t have a whole lot to do with this trade since he’d never had Turner in house and probably isn’t very familiar with Okung either.

    • If Reich or Fitterer were still around I think the need to extend Young because of what he cost would be stronger.  And yeah Morgan was Fit's right hand when the call was made but there an equal chance that Dan will see it as a chance to move on from Fit and shake off that stink. Holding out some hope that 3 years and clear eyes will allow for an honest appraisal that Young just aint the guy
    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
