Thomas isn’t as good as this article is making him out to be, go watch every snap of any game Thomas has played and you can see D Coordinators don’t really fear him, they are willing to cover him with safeties and linebackers much more than other WR like Julio, AB, Tyreek ext...

Thomas is a bigger Jarvis Landry playing in a system that suits him perfectly

They cover the reasons why. He just isn't the type of deep threat that guys like Julio are. Hence the reason he isn't in their top 15 Deep Threats portion.

Keep telling yourself that. It's like the opposing fans who knock CMC. If opposing defenses could slow these guys down they would.

Another interesting Panthers-related bit is seeing Robby Anderson ranked in the bottom 15 for 2018 and 2019 for separation on deep balls despite being touted as a specialist in this regard. Hopefully that’s more a function of his team and scheme rather than ability.

While I agree from what I’ve seen that defenses may be more willing to put safeties or lbs on Thomas, I think it says more about Thomas’s physicality and the scheme rather than anything to do with how “good” Thomas is.

Yeah, gotta love the comment that there was very little interest in him as a FA. That’s not a great sign seeing him at the bottom in separation.

But Samuel was too 10.

Would it come as any surprise to learn that Hurney was bidding against himself for Anderson, Paradis, and Bridgewater? Hell, it might be more surprising to learn that he wasn't.

Well they attempted to adjust for that. I guess we will see.

I wonder if in the second Hurney era the Panthers actually successfully draft a WR and OL replacement (6-8 years ago) or if he will continue his LB and RB pattern. He really struggles to find a WR.

It’d sure be nice to catch up with the modern NFL.

Nice catch, I definitely overlooked this. It’s absolutely something I would have expected watching last year’s games and was surprised not seeing Samuel in looking through it. Samuel was wide open down the field a significant amount, and we mostly failed to connect due to poor reads, poor throws or poor body-catching technique.

Now, I’d expect some of that is anomaly given how defenses were playing us due to our qb and line situation and our over-reliance on CMC, but it will be interesting to watch the Anderson/Samuel dynamic when/if we see them on the field together this year.

Allen actually throws a nice short to medium range ball, but his deep ball sucks. Expect the same from Teddy.

Huddlers underestimate Samuel. Sometimes people have to see.

We have not been maximizing Samuel's proficiency at getting open. Maybe Brady will fix that. Let's hope Bridgewater can get it to him!

I still say Samuel is the X-factor, and this metric kind of points to that.
