On overall impressions

Everything has gone really well.  Guys working hard as professionals, a lot of great personalities.  Safety is being done first class and players have responded with great energy.  They came in really good shape, conditioning is not a concern. 

There's  a great feeling / vibe in the building.  Enjoyed being around the players.  We need to hit the dog days of camp to truly bond and come together as a team. 

On Donta Jackson and what he needs to do to be a starting corner. 

Donta is already there with maturity and his approach.  He's one of the real bright spots and his best football is about to be played. 

On Teddy

He's competitive, friendly, professional.  He asked to turn the music off to get the football right.  He's really pleased with Teddy. Offense has great weapons and talent but they need more time to gel.

IAN THOMASTE, CAROLINA PANTHERS

Panthers coach Matt Rhule declared it is Ian Thomas' "turn" as the team's TE.

Rhule opened the statement by declaring Chris Manhertz as potentially one of the league's best blocking TEs. Thomas, however, offers much more receiving upside, and is in the driver's seat to top the depth chart at the position. It's a fantastic opportunity for the athletic pass catcher, who has (mostly) shined in spot starts over the last two seasons with Greg Olsen sidelined. Thomas is one of the many intriguing upside tight ends being drafted in the later rounds.

He knew Brian's talents but he takes game seriously.  Pleased that he put on some weight muscle and shows that he will have a special year.

On leadership and Shaq Thompson

There's people who talk a lot but aren't really leaders.  Leaders are those that people want to follow.  Shaq is a leader and how he works with rookies is real leadership.
