PANTHERS cut down to 80 players

Wide receiver Damion Jeanpiere, guard Tyler Marz, center Frederick Mauigoa, and running back Rodney Smith have been waived. Jeanpiere and Marz were late additions to Carolina's practice squad in 2019 and signed futures contracts to remain with the team. Mauigoa and Smith both signed as undrafted free agents following the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Panthers also waived undrafted rookie linebacker Jason Ferris with an injury designation.

With these moves, Carolina's roster stands at 80 players. This means the Panthers do not have to use a split-squad procedure and can work as one unit

Rhule maybe in the wrong game, in his last interview the plan was to remain at 90. A couple days later, here we are at 80. Doing himself no favors to the "Rhule is a LIAR!!1!1!!! reeeee" crowd.

If Rhule says a guy is looking great and he can’t wait to see him on the field, consider him cut.

This  is  probably  the  reason  for  the  cuts.

If  they  get  injuries  some  of  them  may  come  back.

Mauigoa (C) and Smith (RB) were players I watched some videos on after we signed them--I was never that excited about either.  With Mauigoa, I thought he sucked.

I think we could have something in Bowen (T, Ohio St) , Bayless (WR, Ark St), Hartsfield (CB, Miss), and Sutton (TE, Fresno St).

So he’s ready and we were just calling him the second biggest bust out

If he was ready the Panthers wouldn’t of went out and traded Turner for a LT. I mean it’s good our second rounder, backup LT passed his physical round 2 in his second year, but I wouldn’t call it great news.
